Superbooth 24: Boredbrain Music has released three new expanders, DB25, TRS, and IO, for its voltage-controlled stereo mixer Xcelon.
Here is a first-look video on the new Boredbrain modules (DB25, TRS, and IO) and a closer look at the entire modular expandable Eurorack mixer ecosystem.

Last year, during Knobcon 2023, the US-based company Boredbrain Music introduced the Xcelon, a voltage-controllable stereo mixer for Eurorack. It has six stereo channels or 12 mono channels with gain control, two FX sends/returns per stereo channel, and more.
The mixer can be expanded extensively thanks to pins on the back. The Boredbrain Music team is exhibiting on Superbooth for the first time this year. They not only show the Xcelor as a Europe premiere, they also release three new expanders for Superbooth 24.
Boredbrain Music DB25, TRS, AND IO
The Xcelon stereo mixer functionality grows and grows. Three new expanders celebrate their premiere at Superbooth 24.
The first new release is the Boredbrain Music IO (8HP), a new fully configurable expander delivering 30 channels.
On the front of this 8HP-wide module are 27 3.5mm jacks — 1 through to 24 being mono, while 25/26, 27/28, and 29/30 are stereo — serving as either inputs or outputs, depending on how the rear ports are connected. There are various configurations possible, allowing you to spice up the routing game, for example on the Xcelon stereo mixer.
DB25
Then, the DB25 is a new 8HP multi-channel audio expander, offering up to twenty-four balanced outputs when used in conjunction with Boredbrain’s IO and/or Xcelon mixer. The module allows you to interface with DB25 studio gear or DB25 snakes easily. DB25 makes high-quality, multi-channel Eurorack recording simple, fun, and effective.
According to Boredbrain Music, the DB25 features a low-noise signal path and isolated circuitry on each channel, allowing for high-quality audio work. The module is particularly helpful in conjunction with other expanders from the series. For example, with the connected IO module, you can send out 24 mono-balanced line outputs.
TRS
Moreover, they also released the new 8HP TRS module, featuring 12 balanced audio connections when used in combination with their IO or Xcelon mixer. Each channel features isolated circuitry to eliminate cross-talk and keep noise low, ensuring premium recording of each signal path.
The TRS module works best with other Boredbrain modules. With the addition of just one IO module, your Eurorack is ready to record with twelve balanced line-level outputs, plenty for a large multi-voice system, independently recording dry signals and effects sends, and more.
First Impression
If you are looking for a stereo mixer that also fits into a professional recoding setup, this is the right place for you. The three new expanders show where this stereo mixer is headed.
Boredbrain Music DB25 ($369), TRS ($259), and IO ($99) are available now. They will be on display at Superbooth 24 next week at booth Z060.
