Terrarum has released two new free AUv3 FX plugins for iOS/macOS: Rivet 3-Verb, a three-engine reverb, and Rivet 4-Comb, a comb filter.
Chris Johnson of Airwindows now offers over 500 open-source algorithms, all of which can be used in the Consolidated plugin. Joe Topjian of Terrarum recently ported some of these algorithms to iOS with easy-to-use GUIs, including the Rivet 2-Room.
Terrarum has now released two more Airwindows ports: Rivet 3-verb and Rivet 4-Comb. Again, they’re free of charge.
Terrarum Rivet 3-Verb
Rivet 3-Verb is a new three-engine reverb plugin for iOS and macOS with drive degradation and gating, built for techno and industrial. Like the previous Rivet apps, Terrarum Rivet 3-Verb is based on the open-source Airwindows algorithms.
The plugin combines the MV2 reverb engine with pre-filters, saturation, lo-fi grit, and tempo-synced gating. Three distinct engines are available that cover tight rooms, 80s gated snare snap, and reverse-style atmospheric swells.
It offers six sections. It starts with a pre-EQ with low, mid, mid freq, and high, followed by the main reverb (space) engine with controls over the room and decay.
Then, you have a character part, allowing you to shape the reverbs. There is also a post-EQ section with the same features as the pre-EQ section, an output section, and I/O meters.
Put it on drums, synths, or any bus to add space, from tight concrete rooms to gated snares to lush, blooming swells.
Terrarum Rivet 4- Comb
Alongside Rivet 3-Verb, Terrarum also released Rivet 4-Comb, a more unique FX processor. It’s a resonant comb filter also built for techno and industrial. Of course, you can also use it on other styles.
Like the others, it’s also based on an open-source Airwindows algorithm. Comb combines feedback resonators with internal saturation for rich harmonic colour.
The signal path starts with a pre-EQ followed by a voicing section where you can create chord intervals for harmonic resonance.
Further, you have the main feedback resonator section with various modes to choose from and synceable tune and decay controls. It has, for example, a hot mode that lets you create metallic destruction tones.
Built-in modulation is also onboard for the comb filters in the form of a synceable LFO with speed and depth controls.
One step further, you have a filter section that lets you shape the resonators, plus a drive section for additional spice.
First Impression
Two more great free AUv3 FX plugins for iOS and macOS that you shouldn’t miss.
Terrarum Rivet 3-Verb and Rivet 4-Comb are available now as a free download from the App Store. It runs as a standalone app and as an AUv3 plugin on iOS, iPadOS, and macOS (native Apple Silicon). A donation option is available in the app.
