Superbooth 21: Empress Effects will start shipping its ZOIA EuroBuro modular Synthesizer module on September 17th, 2021
It took a long time, a full year +. At NAMM 2020, Empress Effects presented the Zoia EuroBuro, the Eurorack version of the Zoia modular Synthesizer environment, for the first time. During Superbooth 20 Home Edition, they presented the module in in-depth first look videos. My video is linked below.
Empress Effects will not be on the Superbooth 21 this year, hello travel restrictions, but will start shipping the EuroBuro at this time. So not a brand new product presentation but a long-awaited module will finally be available.
Empress Effects ZOIA Euroburo
ZOIA Euroburo is the Eurorack version of the ZOIA pedal with a different interface, additional buttons, and modular connectivity (4 CV inputs/4 CV outputs). Like the pedal, Euroburo is a self-contained modular Synthesizer in a module with over 80 available internal modules.
This range from audio modules such as oscillators, loopers, granular…, interface modules (audio I/O, MIDI I/O, MIDI CC…), CV tools (ADSR, LFO, sequencer…) and of course many effects processors (delays, compressor, fuzz, reverbs, chorus, ring mod…). I know what you think now: “the Synthesizer inception (synthception) continues after the Hector module”. Yes absolutely.
Compared to the Poly Effects Hector, the operation is completely different. No touch interface but color-coded buttons that are used to connect modules with each other. The operation is unique and takes some getting used to. Once understand, you can create in no time complete synths, powerful effects processors, sequencers, and more.
The ZOIA Euroburo is also fully compatible with the ever-growing patch library on Patchstorage. Any user who still has problems building their own patches will find a lot of ideas here. Oh yes, there is no editor for the pedal/module.
It is good to see that the Zoia Euroburo is finally finished. It’s a super deep module with a lot of possibilities. No matter if synth, effects … it masters everything. Euroburo or Hector, you have to take a closer look to know this. Personally, however, I tend to like the Hector because of its interface. But let’s see.
Empress Effects ZOIA EuroBuro is available now for pre-order for $649 USD and starts shipping on September 17th, 2021 (Superbooth 21). For $99 USD, you can order an additional case for it that is only compatible with the module.
