Kaona Steroweaver is a new mono-to-stereo spatial FX module for Eurorack that turns mono sources into rich stereo signals.
Many Eurorack patches are monophonic and also mono in the signal form. They become stereo when you use a mixer, filter, or FX that can convert mono to stereo.
French developer Kaona has introduced Stereoweaver, an Eurorack module that not only converts mono signals to stereo but also adjusts the signal’s spatial characteristics.
Kaona Stereoweaver
Stereoweaver is a new 10HP module for creating and exploring a stereo image from a mono source. Kaona uses a special method for this in Stereoweaver. It’s based on a combination of depth, micro-delays, and movement.
According to the developer, you can achieve anything from subtle openings to more pronounced spatial textures using different approaches, each with a dedicated knob.
Phase shifts the phase relationship between the channels over the 0-180° range and interacts with other settings. This parameter affects the stability, diffusion, and coherence of the stereo image, as well as its character.
Then, the Haas effect introduces an inter-channel micro-delay to create a sense of space and presence without an echo effect.
The motion adds motion to your stereo image, ranging from slow to fast to rotary Leslie-style movement, with two speakers (low and high) simulated with distinct characteristics, such as speed offset.
Fourth and final is the width that gradually widens the stereo image while progressively hollowing out the center. The large Depth knob integrates all spatial effects.
It sets the sense of depth and relief in the stereo space, and the number of effects through the intensity of interactions between processes. Alongside more subtle stereo results, you can also create micro-chorus or micro-phasing effects with it.
On the connectivity side, it has a single input and two outputs for stereo connectivity. Each socket has a dedicated knob for independent adjustment. There is also a built-in LED that provides visual feedback on potential input clipping.
Each parameter also features a dedicated CV input. They are summed with the settings of the corresponding potentiometers. The modulation amount depends on the potentiometer position (attenuation/amount).
First Impression
At first glance, a useful module that can be very helpful if you work with stereo audio and want to go beyond simply doubling a mono source.
Kaona Stereoweaver is available now for 246€.

I’ve wanted something like this for the Earthquaker Afterneath module. Awesome effect that really should be stereo. On the other hand, at the same price I could pick up a second Afterneath.
Either way, nice design.
The Depth knob adds noise while being handled and that is a pity for a demo on youtube.Otherwise quite impressive
Make it stereo? Isn’t it the other way around? Isn’t everything I listen to as a human being in fact stereo audio already? To my mind, the impression that some audio source is mono, only exists in my head, is result of how my brain interprets the stereo signal it receives from my ears. This would explain why I can overdo it rather quickly with these types of “more stereo”-effects.
The latest firmware has completely eliminated all the noises that could sometimes occur with fast modulations.
