The French company UVI, part of the Image Line group, is one of the best-known sample-based virtual instrument designers. Its primary focus is on the development of high-quality virtual instruments with a specific sonic direction, such as synthesizers with a vintage basis, orchestral libraries, and more.
Recently, they also explored a new path that’s especially interesting for beginning music producers: virtual instruments (Mosaiq, which cover an extensive range of sounds and are intended to serve as a source of inspiration). The new UVI Prisma Producer Lab virtual instrument continues this path.
UVI Prisma Producer Lab
Prisma Producer Lab is a new virtual instrument that incorporates classic UVI ingredients: dual-layer engine, a wide range of controls, effects, and a sequencer.
According to UVI, Prisma invites producers into a limitless creative space with a powerful new instrument designed to spark ideas and fuel musical exploration.
The core of the instrument consists of two layers, which include a mixture of UVI Falcon-based sampling technology and synthesis.
For Prisma, the developers didn’t capture any new sounds; instead, they drew from their own product portfolio, specifically from over 100 UVI products. It’s essentially a Best Of UVI virtual instrument.
Prisma Producer Lab features 250 diverse instruments/sound sources from 100+ UVI products, including acoustic, electronic, and hybrid sounds from synths, drum machines, and more.
Prisma pulls from 107 of UVI’s premium products, spanning synths, drum machines, orchestras, modulars, world instruments, keyboards, fretted instruments, foley, and beyond.
Each sound source was curated for its unique character and compatibility, allowing you to build rich hybrid patches with a unified feel. Powered by decades of sonic craftsmanship, Prisma opens doors only UVI could.
Craft Your Own Sounds
Is there something lacking in brightness, or does the sound not perfectly match what you’re looking for? No problem! All sounds can be adjusted in Prisma Producer Lab, and even new ones can be created.
The dual-layer engine with its six-page interface makes this possible. On the main page, you can instantly change the sound source for each layer, crossfade them with additional animation, and tweak them with five performance macros.
Then, you have independent layer settings, including sound source settings, a multimode filter, voicing with unison, and built-in modulation with two LFOs, two step modulators, and two ADSR envelopes (for filter and amp).
Features that are familiar from many UVI products. To refine your sounds, it also features a multi-FX section with four send effects (Sparkverb, Convolver, Dual Delay, and Feedback). Additionally, you have bus effects, including drive, EQ, and maximizer.
On the last sound page, you have an advanced arpeggiator/sequencer per sound layer with customizable velocity, link, mode, pitch, octave, gate, and pan settings per step. This allows you to create very complex arpeggiator patterns.
On the settings page, as the name suggests, there are various settings that you can make.
From the 250 sound sources, over 1000 ready-to-use presets have been created that music producers can work with directly. You can find bass, lead, pads, effects, and other sounds types at your fingertip. Plus, Prisma is fully MPE compatible.
First Impression
A best-of UVI virtual instrument for modern music producers. The description fits this release very well. I think it will be of interest less to die-hard UVI fans and more to newcomers who may not yet be familiar with the company’s instruments.
You get a nice overview of the ready-to-use sounds UVI has in its portfolio, which you can work with immediately.
UVI Prisma is available now for an introductory price of $69/69€ instead of $149/149€ throughout September 14th, 2025. Owners of SonicBundle will receive an additional $10 / 10€ voucher.
Prisma offers native 64-bit standalone operation by way of Falcon or the free UVI Workstation, providing comprehensive support for all modern DAWs and simultaneous authorization on up to 3 computers or iLok keys.
