Expressive E has unveiled the Osmose 61, a new 61-key version of its innovative MPE Synthesizer and MIDI controller.
The Expressive E Osmose is undoubtedly among the most innovative synthesizers of recent years. This is because it features a novel keybed that breaks new ground. It allows users to manipulate and articulate sounds in a way never before possible with a traditional white/black keyboard.
The Osmose has 49 keys. That’s enough for many musicians. But calls for a larger version have been growing for some time. Now the response: Expressive E has introduced the Osmose 61.

Building on the success of the 49-key Osmose, the new 61-key version, Osmose 61, adds an extra octave, giving musicians more room to explore, compose, and perform. Don’t worry, the 49-key remains on the market, but you can now choose between the two versions.
The new Expressive E Osmose 61 is perfect for two-handed playing, complex arrangements, and live performance.
Like the O49, it features the same 3D keyboard where every note responds with nuance to velocity, pressure, aftertouch, pitch bend, pressure glide, strum, vibrato, and more. It also features the same full MPE integration, build quality, and synthesis engine.
Talking of the synthesis engine. Additionally, the new Osmose 61 is powered by the Haken Audio EaganMatrix multi-synth engine, which is specifically designed for expressive sound design.
It includes physical modeling, FM, subtractive synthesis, as well as onboard reverb, delay, compressor, EQ, and more. And via Christophe Duquesne’s additional Loris Synth, you can even work with resynthesis/additive synthesis in the Osmose 61.
Osmose 61 ships with 580 factory presets and up to 2048 preset slots for your own sounds. It should not be forgotten that the Expressive E Osmose 49 and 61 also function as powerful MPE MIDI controllers.
To highlight the MIDI capabilities, Expressive E has released over the last few months and years the Expressive Suite library series, which includes presets for various Synthesizer and virtual instrument plugins specially designed for MPE controllers.
They also announced that a new series of mini-synths with intuitive editors for the EaganMatrix is coming soon. They make sound design more accessible than ever, transforming what was once a complex interface into an expressive, user-friendly platform for creativity.
Made In Europe
In addition to the Osmose 61, Expressive E is also taking the opportunity to announce the opening of a new production facility. Previously, the Osmose was manufactured entirely in China. That is now a thing of the past.
They have opened a new assembly facility in Poland, fully dedicated to Osmose and future instruments. This decision was made to meet the global demand while guaranteeing uncompromising quality.
For the first time, the company will no longer rely on subcontractors, say the developers. Every stage, from design to assembly, will now be handled in-house.
This shift gives Expressive E full control over the lifecycle of its products, ensuring reliability, sustainability, and the highest European quality standards.
First Impression
A logical next step that Expressive E has taken here. For those who want even more expressiveness and playability, a larger version is now available. I’m looking forward to the mini synths, which will make creating your own sounds significantly easier.
Expressive E Osmose 61 is available now for $1999/1999€.
