Cre8audio Assembler is a new 10-input performance mixer module and standalone unit with a vintage analog soul in collaboration with Pittsburgh Modular.

The analog jam trio is almost perfect: East Beast, West Pest, and the new Boom Chick drum machine. Now, all that’s missing is the connecting link that glues the sounds together and makes them mix reader. There is also a new tool for this.

Cre8audio has unveiled Assembler, a new affordable analog synth-focused performance mixer that functions as a standalone unit and Eurorack module.

Assembler is another close collaboration between Cre8audio and Pittsburgh Modular. The roles were also the same, and PM created the analog circuitry for it.

Like Boom Chick, it also uses an original design, not a clone, that is inspired by the iconic consoles with its lovely character full of warmth.

Cre8audio Assembler is a performance mixer with ten audio inputs, including six mono inputs, dedicated pan and level controls, and two stereo inputs on mini jacks. It supports Eurorack and line level, and the developers promise it seamlessly integrates into any live or studio setup.

Each channel features powerful preamps with up to 20x gain boost option for line-level signals, clarity enhancement, or saturation. The latter is a vintage tape-style saturation with contouring and soft compression on all channels and auxes.

This unique setting emulates the beloved character of vintage recordings, offering a rich and cohesive sound.

Creative Routing

Then, you can find three assignable AUX sends with two stereo returns and one mono return, each with independent gain adjustments up to 2.7x.  This gives you plenty of creative room to explore. For example, you can use these to add mono/stereo effects to the signal path or for sub-mixing.

Further, Cre8Audio and Pittsburgh Modular added vintage-inspired high and low EQ with ±15 dB boost or cut on channels 1 and 2. A dedicated headphone output with a separate cue mix ensures precise monitoring, which is crucial for live performances.

And all this mixing fun is hands-on and implemented in a one-knob per function system without menu diving.

Experimental Sound Generator

For experimental musicians, the Pittsburgh Modular analog circuitry offers another lovely treat. The Cre8audio Assembler can self-oscillate and transform into a no-input feedback noise machine without connected inputs.

The back of the unit has a power supply input and an ON/OFF switch. As a reminder, you can use it as a standalone unit in its case or as an Eurorack module.

First Impression

Performance mixers for Eurorack tend to be a bit more expensive. The Assembler offers a comprehensive feature set for a fair price. It also has the advantage over classic modules in that it’s standalone out of the box.

Cre8audio Assembler is ready for pre-order for $399,99/319,99€ and will be available in mid-May 2025.
