Memorymoog Preset Collection is a free library that brings the original Memorymoog sounds to the Moog Muse Synthesizer.
The Memorymoog is a polyphonic analog synthesizer produced by Moog Music from 1982 to 1985, before the company went bankrupt. With its three oscillators, ladder filter, two main envelopes, and preset memory, the Memorymoog shared some similarities with today’s Moog Muse polysynth.
Of course, the latter has significantly more features, such as three LFOs, velocity, aftertouch, built-in delay, more memory, and so on. Nevertheless, the Memorymoog remains a great polysynth. Fast forward. The new Moog now evokes the Memorymoog with a free preset collection for the Moog Muse.
Memorymoog Preset Collection
Moog has teamed up with Eric Frampton, one of Muse’s factory preset sound designers, to create the Memorymoog Preset Collection for Muse users.
Eric Frampton has meticulously recreated all 100 Memorymoog factory presets for the Moog Muse.
According to him, these presets sound strikingly close to the originals, though there are subtle variations due to differences in the voice architecture of each synth. And that they don’t sound 100% the same is normal.
There is a 40-year technological gap between them, and the Muse is not a Memorymoog clone but an original modern instrument.
The new sound library not only recreates the Memorymoog factory library but also takes it into the modern age.
Alongside the 100 patches, each patch also offers a B-timbre version that takes advantage of Muse’s modern features, including velocity, aftertouch, and macro knob controls, effects, and extra modulation. So you get basically 200 free patches for your Moog Muse.
