For NAMM 2020, Behringer has announced the System 55, a reproduction of the Moog Modular System in Eurorack with over 20 modules.
Next round Behringer! After the Roland System 100 clone, there is now a clone of the Moog Modular called System 55 for the Eurorack format. It includes over 20 analog reproductions of the legendary Moog Modular 15, 35 & 55.
Besides analog oscillators, filters… it also includes the Sequential Sequencer and a new PSU module that can also be seen in the video of Behringer. The modules will probably cost between $49 and $99 like the System 100 modules.
Behringer Says:
Let’s switch on the time machine and go back to the sound of the 1970s. Introducing: Our Modular 55, 35 & 15 Series! We’ve got more than 20 modules for you – all authentic reproductions of the circuitry from the “Modular 55, 35 & 15″ Series. And all brought to the Eurorack standard but still staying true to the era with some specific features. That warm sound was loved by Artists from Tangerine Dream to Depeche Mode.
And an earlier version used by Wendy Carlos on the famous album “Switched on Bach”. That brought the sound of synthesizers into mainstream music and became basically the founding father of all synths in pop music.

Why is this ok?
How many modular synth brands are out here cloning classic stuff? Do you have an issue with Erics, or Doepfer, or Pittsburgh doing the same thing?
How many Neve and Neumann copies are there?
look at guitar clones. or effects pedals. how many tube screamers are out there? or stratocaster copies? people who want them will get the “real” thing, some will go with whats affordable.
i dont get the outrage. i dont have any behringer stuff, but tempted on a behringer neutron, but will i get one? i dont know. im saving for a dreadbox erebus v3 though, when i could easily get a behringer d and a neutron for that price.
people will get what they want. just because behringer makes clones of other stuff doesnt mean the synth market is going to come crashing down. look at ibanez, they are still doing funky stuff even when everyone else cloned the shit out of the tube screamer, or fender when everyone copied their guitar and so on.
maybe im just full of bs though. im sleepy.
because copyrights on patents and circuits only last 20 years before lapsing into the public domain (in the US).

Why would it not be?
