TAL Software TAL-Dub-X: the new free update 2.2.7 revives the first Dub delay plugin code in a new raw mode and adds new features.
In 2017, TAL Software released a revamped version of its popular free TAL-Dub delay called TAL-Dub-X. It is not a free plugin anymore, but there have been constant updates over the last few years. For example, they added Dub-I and Dub-II modes, a multimode LFO, and more.
Then, in 2022 followed a free 2.0 update with a ducking mode. Today marks another step forward for the TAL Software TAL-Dub-X. The developer has released a free update, 2.2.7, that revives the original Dub delay plugin code.
TAL Software TAL-Dub-X
As a reminder, TAL-Dub-X is a creative stereo delay with ping-pong mode plus ducking and a built-in filtering, modulation, and saturation unit. Thanks to its flexible engine with different delay algorithms, filters, and saturation modes, you can fully customize the effect.
Fun, you can also modulate the pitch of the delay line and the filter with the built-in LFO to archive various delay-based effects.
The new version 2.2.7 is out now and is a free update for existing users. The new update infuses the processor with nostalgia by restoring the original TAL-Dub code to the plugin.
According to TAL Software, it’s a 1:1 port called TAL-Dub-1 RAW mode. They also added new factory presets showcasing the old dub delay code.
In addition, the new update contains a new Lo-Fi section with bit depth and sample-rate controls, which adds more sonic flexibility. New color dialogs are also available that you can import and export anytime, and some bugs have also been fixed.
First Impression
It’s great that the plugin is still getting updates eight years after its initial release. It’s getting better and better. Thumps up for this.
TAL Software Dub-X 2.2.7 is available now as a free download for existing users. The plugin is out now for 25€ + VAT and runs as a VST, VST3, AU, CLAP, and AAX plugin on macOS (native Apple Silicon + Intel), Linux, and Windows.
