There is always a coming and going in the music tech world. New companies are constantly coming and going, and just as many are disappearing.
Now a well-known name will disappear from the Kontakt library sphere. Rigid Audio has surprisingly announced that they are going out of business at the end of the year.
Rigid Audio Out Of Business
The last operating day of the company will be January 1, 2025. Then the company will be closed after 10 years. Dennis Lenz, founder and sound designer says:
I want to thank all of your for your help, your commitment and of course most importantly – your time. It really was an exciting journey!
The news is sad. I liked the Kontakt releases of Rigid Audio because they focused more on synthesizer and electronic sounds instead of orchestral ones like many other releases. They also offered a lot of features for very affordable prices.
RA will end the last two months with a final $25/28,39€ sale on its Everything Bundle, which features 39 products, including the Kontakt GUI maker, a Kontakt development tool for macOS and Windows.
Everything Bundle
The bundle includes the Kontakt GUI Maker software, five plugins and 33 virtual instruments for Kontakt 5 or 6 (full version), depending on the library

- Asphericon plugin (24 multi-sampled guitar, tube and bell instruments)

- ….
If you are not sure about the quality, there are some libraries available for free download, including Interference, Stompbox, and others.
Some Rigid Audio product sound demos I did in the last years on the Synth Anatomy youtube channel.
This is sad news. I wish Dennis Lenz and Rigid Audio all the best for the future.
Rigid Audio Everything Bundle is available now for $25/28,39€. Also available on Plugin Boutique + a free plugin. Or get it at Audio Plugin Deals with a 20% discount with the code TREAT20 for $20.
The libraries require the full version of Kontakt 5 or Kontakt 6, depending of the library. They don’t work properly in Kontakt Player.
The plugins run as a VST, VST3, and AU plugin on macOS (native Apple Silicon + Intel) and Windows.

This is really sad news. Even though those libraries are kind of outside my “realm”, they do great work, and the offer high-quality sounds at very low prices. I’ve gotten a few libraries from them on sale. I thought the GUI Maker software was a very clever idea. Dang. This one hurts. (They all do.) Well, I’ll show my love & support by getting that bundle.
Just a note to anyone planning to get the bundle. Be prepared to spend quite a bit of time with downloads. As far as I can tell, there’s no unified (overnight) download– each item in the bundle has to be downloaded separately.
Also, there doesn’t seem to be documentation included in the bundles, so you might want to visit the product page. Not all of them have manuals, but some do. You’ll find an obvious PDF link button when they do.
Does anyone know if the serial authorization will still work after the company shuts down their servers, etc.?
the Kontakt libraries doesn’t require a serial. Put them on a SSD and you are fine for the future. For the plugins or GUI maker software I don’t know
Really sad news.. why ever.. we don*t know but:
It fits in these more and more dystrophic times..
I am depressed but want to say thank you Dennis Lenz for your work!
I wish you all the best and hope you stay tuned for doing music, that you are healthy and well
Yours
Karli
