Make Noise ReSynthesizer, a modular system for cross-synthesis exploration

Make Noise ReSynthesizer is a new modular Synthesizer complete system, including Spectraphon and Morphagene, designed for cross-synthesis sound explorations.

The modular Synthesizer world is colorful and versatile. One advantage of working with modular systems is the total flexibility in how you design your system. These include various oscillators and filters, two or more envelopes, LFOs, and more. You are free to create anything you want.

However, some musicians prefer to have everything from one company in one system. Good examples are the classic Doepfer A-100 system or the Make Noise Shared System for more experimental sonic adventures. With the ReSynthesizer, Make Noise has today a new complete system, featuring their latest modules with tons of synthesis options.

Make Noise ReSynthesizer

The ReSynthesizer is an instrument comprising a single-system overview of the last 8 years of Make Noise module designs. The system uses a four-zone 7U CV bus case with the original power supply and AC adapter.

This contains a selection of the latest Make Noise modules that cover a wide spectrum of synthesis. The sound is provided by the Spectraphon and Morphagene oscillators, which bring plenty of synthesis capabilities into play.

I like to talk about cross-synthesis because you get subtractive synthesis, west-coast patching, additive, spectral, and granular synthesis in a system.

There are also a variety of other effects, filters, and tools such as modulators, CV controllers, and more rounds of the new Make Make Noise ReSynthesizer system. It includes the following modules:

  • Digital Signal Processing: VC DSP
  • Spectraphon: voltage-controlled spectral analysis/resynthesis/noise generation
  • Mimeophon: voltage-controlled stereo repeats and halos
  • Morphagene: voltage-controlled stereo granularization
  • Wogglebug: complex random voltage generator
  • 2x MATHS: dual analog control voltage generator
  • X-PAN: voltage-controlled panning, crossfading, and mixing
  • TEMPI: polyphonic time shifting:
  • René: new school sequencing:
  • PrssPnt: human expression/control
  • DXG: stereo low pass gating and mixing: DXG
  • CV Bus: horizontal control signal distribution and indication, plus fiinal outputs
  • QPAS: voltage-controlled multi-mode multi-peak stereo filtering
  • Blanking panels as appropriate (selection may vary)

Further, it ships with 30 high-quality patch cables, so you can start exploring and experimenting immediately.

First Impression

It is a powerful, complete system with many synthesis possibilities. Something I would also like to explore, but it’s out of my price range right now.

Make Noise ReSynthesizer is available now for pre-order for $4599. Shipping starts in early November 2024.

      • Humbly mine, is that better? And for the record Tony Rolando, the founder of Make Noise, is a really nice bloke but I just don’t like anything they do. Ever it seems.

    • You should feed your dog better food. Human grade food! And the design is awful, however sadly this is their design language. Mental graffiti comes to mind.
