Full Bucket Music DrumTraqs is a new free plugin that emulates the Sequential Circuits Drumtraks drum computer from 1984.
At the beginning of summer, Full Bucket Music surprised us with a beautiful free emulation of the Sequential Six-Trak Synthesizer. An instrument that had not been emulated before.
This also had a drum counterpart called DrumTraks. Full Bucket Music has now added this as another free plugin for macOS and Windows.
Full Bucket Music DrumTraqs
DrumTraqs is a new free drum machine plugin that authentically emulates the vintage Sequential Circuits DrumTraks from 1983. According to Björn of Full Bucket Music, it simulates the original Z80 system, using a newly-written code in native C++.
Unlike the original hardware unit, it comes with fourteen drum sounds (bass, snare, rim, tom 1, tom 2, crash, cymbal, ride, closed hi-hat, open hi-hat, claps, tamp, cowbell, and cabasa), all with programmable tuning and level control.
DrumTraqs gives the original factory sounds and some new additional ROM samples to play around.
Then, you get a mixer section for the individual sounds with individual volume and pan control. Plus, it has built-in stereo mixing options.
DrumTraqs does not have a modern step sequencer but takes over the original hardware’s old-school pattern and song-building workflow.
Further, it offers SysEx and MIDI import/export capabilities, allowing you to import/export patterns from/to the hardware. Of course, the plugin is also fully resizable and offers MIDI CC support for all parameters and buttons.
First Impression
Another excellent free plugin from Björn of Full Bucket Music. Thanks a lot. Even though I don’t need such vintage drum sounds in my music.
Full Bucket Music DrumTraqs is now available for free download. It runs as a VST2, VST3, CLAP, AU, and AAX plugin on macOS (native Apple Silicon + Intel) and Windows. If you enjoy Björn’s excellent development, please consider donating something to its website.
