Befaco Molten Bypass is a new creative stereo bypass module to gate control the send of your signals to your favorite effect.
Guitar effect pedals, aka stompboxes, have switches that allow you to bypass the affected signal with just one press. An essential function that can be found in every pedal. However, this is often missing in Eurorack effect modules. You have a dry/wet, which you can often control with CV, but there is no bypass.
Robin Vincent (Molten Music Technology) noticed this and worked with Befaco on a smart solution. The result is called Molten Bypass.
Befaco Molten Bypass
Molten Bypass is a new stereo bypass module that adds this useful function to your modular system. It allows you to gate control the send of your signals to your favorite effect.
The 4HP module has a straightforward structure. It has a stereo on two in sockets for the stereo in, to FX, from FX, and output, which creates the connection between the different stages. Operation is also super simple.
By pressing the big “Launch” button, you can bypass the signal in two ways. In the hard setting, you bypass the entire effected signal and thus remove the effect from your signal chain, while the soft allows the long tails of your reverb to stay.
It is a lovely addition for softly and creatively detaching the FX component from a sound or track. Then, the FX gain adds volume to the effected sound. Effects tend to reduce the volume of the processed sound itself. This function raises the signal again.
The big “Launch” button can also be used in two ways. In latch mode, you can bypass in ON/OFF fashion the FX processor with a button like we know it from stompboxes. It is different in the second mode.
Gate allows you to use the button as a momentary function, so as long as the button is pressed, FX will flow to the sound source. I can see this feature very well when used in performances.
All this can also be CV-controlled. This way, you can trigger the button in exciting ways and create punctual effect doses, for example.
First Impression
It doesn’t always have to be the big, fully-featured modules. The small ones can also be fascinating. That is the case here. Molten Bypass is a super simple but clever new module that enhances any FX module. I wonder why developers didn’t include this crucial function in a module long ago.
Thanks, Robin, for putting the traditional bypass function with modular ingredients into a module.
Befaco Molten Bypass is available now for 127,05€ (incl. VAT).

been thinking about this gap for a while. essential addition to the rack
This isn’t a new concept in fact the SSF Autodub does exactly the same thing. The only difference is the hard and soft switch.
All four Roland AIRA modules have dedicated and CV controllable bypass switches.
where can I purchase them? in which shop 😉 They have a very classic on/off bypass where Befaco one is creative to use.
You know it, they are available only second hand. Lots of creative things with internal patching are possible, CV controllable cross fade between dry signal and wet signal for example.
