Buchla & Friends 2025: Endorphin.es Cockpit X 1U is a new compact 6-channel stereo mixer for Eurorack and the successor of the Cockpit 1U.
Today is the third day of NAMM 2025. Parallel to the Anaheim event, Buchla & Friends 2025 begins today. This two-day cozy fair is where Synthesizer developers gather. Many developers who used to attend NAMM can now be found here.
Endorphin.es, from Spain, will showcase the new Cockpit X 1U stereo mixer and the latest 3.0 firmware update for the Ground Control performance mixer.
Endorphin.es Cockpit X 1U
Cockpit X 1U is a new compact all-analog 6-channel stereo mixer for Eurorack. It has four stereo channels with separate L/R sockets and two stereo inputs via AUX/MIXUP inputs. The latters are designed for daisy chaining, routing external audio, and more.
The successor of the original Cockpit 1U is based on the Sound SemiconductorTM chips, giving a transparent VCA sound, zero bleeding at mute states, proper line/modular levels headroom, and hands-on operation, says Endorphin.es
It’s not just a mixer for stereo-only signals. You can also mix mono sources, as the left inputs are normalled into the right inputs. Thus, audio will always appear on every channel.
Regarding channels, each features an encoder that remembers the mute/ducking states and sound levels. This also allows you to leave your system patches while traveling.
You read it right. There is also a handy sidechain/ducking functionality with a decay parameter and a trigger input. Plus, there is a global volume knob with a secondary function to set the depth of the sidechain depth.
Further, the Endorphin.es Cockpit X 1U features a daisy-chain option, allowing you to expand it with another for more channels. Alternatively, you can use two internal AUX pre-final volume fader inputs.
Endorphin.es says that the L/R inputs are compatible with the Airplane adapters to accommodate 3.5mm TRS sources if needed
First Impression
A lovely upgrade to the original Cockpit 1U. Good-sounding stereo mixers in 1U format are always welcome, and I think this new version will find its way into many systems.
The new Endorphin.es Cockpit X 1U will be available on February 3, 2025, for $179/179€ including VAT.
