TLM Audio, a German Eurorack shop, now offers assembled ST Modular modules in Europe, including Alstaden and Oberhausen oscillators.

In recent years, many new modules have been released. The market for modules always flourishes particularly strongly around the Superbooth period. One of the busiest developers of the last 3-4 years was Stefan Tretau, aka ST Modular.

He designed a huge catalog of exciting modules in a very short time. But there’s a catch to all of this. ST Modular does not manufacture modules. He develops them and offers the plans. To get a module, you have to build it yourself, so DIY.

It took a while, but there are now some authorized shops where you can get the PCB kits to build ST Modular modules, including Pusherman in the UK or Calsynth in the US.

If you are not DIY-savvy, getting ST Modular modules will be more difficult. But the situation is improving here, too. With TLM Audio from Germany, a new shop offers assembled ST Modular modules in addition to its Mutable Instruments clones.

The selection is still tiny and limited, but it is nice that there is now a place where you can buy assembled ST modular modules. According to TLM Audio, all modules are hand-made and take a week to manufacture.

They currently have five modules in the portfolio. The prices are excluding shipping.

  • CION (109€) is a multi-function CV generator that can function as a CV AD or ASD envelope, basic filter, slew limiter, or VCO with variable waveforms.
  • ALSTADEN (199€) is ST Modular’s harsh and harmonically rich-sounding analog oscillator with two oscillators, five waveforms, CV waveshaper, and more
  • Natural State (199€) is a lowpass gate-style module consisting of two 24dB filters, two CV decay envelopes, and an internal LFO.
  • Trommelmaschine (199€) is a hybrid 3-voice drum synth voice with a two-mode digital engine, an analog drum synth, and noise.
  • Oberhausen (399€) is ST Modular’s flagship analog complex oscillator with 2 CEM3340-based principal oscillators, two mod oscillators, and eight waveform outputs.

The first five ST Modular modules are now available in the TLM Audio shop. I hope there will be more.
