Kronecker is a new AUv3 FM/Noise Synthesizer that features a unique and inspiring clockwork-style rhythm generator

Needless to say, developments by Japanese developer iceWorks are among my favorites. I am particularly pleased that the unique iOS synth and effects apps are now also coming to macOS step by step. And that as a free update.

Kronecker, probably the most special resonator-style Synthesizer app by Satoshi, today got a free update bringing it to macOS.

If I must choose my favorite iOS developer then iceGear Instruments is pretty sure one of them. These iOS apps have a very unique sound character and can’t be compared with other apps on the market. Today, Satoshi, the developer, released Kronecker, a new Synthesizer AUv3 that is based on an FM and Noise synth engine. Like in every iceWorks synth, it also hosts a resonator section.

The exciting part of his new sound generator is the extraordinary rhythm generator that works like a clockwork toy. With this, you can create very complex rhythmic percussive sounds.

What Is Kronecker?

Kronecker is a synthesizer like a clockwork toy with a mechanism to rhythmically trigger sounds like a rhythm machine each time you press a keyboard. In addition to synchronizing the trigger speed to the tempo, you can gradually increase the speed or slow it down after pressing the key. This makes it possible to produce synthesizer sounds similar to the sounds bounced by the bouncing ball.

There are four emitters in Kronecker that emit particles of sound made from FM tones and noise. At the emitter you can specify at what timing the sound particles will be triggered. It is also possible to add changes such that the pitch of the particles gradually increases.

Particles of the sound emitted by the emitter can be processed with two resonators, and you can reproduce the sound of particles jumping over strings and pipes.

Kronecker works not only on the iPad but also on the iPhone. It also supports Audio Unit Extensions (AUv3), so you can plug in to AUv3 compatible host. For each screen size, different layouts are designed to be easy to use and intuitive.

First Impression

Big Like for this free update. Thanks a lot, Satoshi.

iceWorks Kronecker is available now for $9,99  on the Apple AppStore. The new update 1.6, with macOS support is a free update. It runs as a standalone and AUv3 plugin on iPhones, iPads, and macOS (Apple Silicon systems).

Important note: Unfortunately, the Mac App Store is known to have a display bug regarding apps already purchased on an iOS device. In this case, you should still be able to continue the purchase process and download the app for free.
