Skull and Circuits VCF-4 is a new unique dual 12dB switched capacitor filter module for stereo and all kinds of serial signal processing.

The perfect filter does not exist. There are many different ones: classic ones like the ladder, state-variable or special ones like the Steiner Parker filter. Every sound explorer has its favorite. I love working with many different filters because each brings its color and characteristic to the sound.

Skulls and Circuits from Belgium has now released a very unique one. VCF-4 doesn’t sound like a very creative name for a filter. However, it hides a very special wild beast behind this.

VCF-4 is a dual-switched capacitor filter, equipped for CV on all the things. It’s basically a dual filter core capable of stereo manipulations or for all kinds of serial filtering configurations.

Both filters have the exact same settings and offer a linking option. Thus, you can link filter 2 to filter 1 making very rich results possible.

First Impression

There are now many filters on the market. I think every filter type is available as a module. Don’t stone me if I’m wrong here. But that’s how it seems to me. The idea of having two complete filters in one with an option to link them is an interesting feature set. The first sound demos sound definitely tempting to me. Interesting release.

Skull and Circuits VCF-4 is available now for 385€.
