Endorphin.es Cockpit 2, a smart 4-channel stereo mixer with side-chain ducking function got a major update and a new lower price.

At first glance, Cockpit 2 remains the same product, but it has got a major, invisible feature makeover. The most important difference is the missing TRRS jack input. As Apple decided to get rid of TRRS in their mobile devices, the developers decided to follow the trend. Instead of this smart function, it now offers simple stereo inputs. Thus send/return through TRRS cables is not possible anymore.

But don’t panic. Since there is greater interest in this mobile-focused function, there will be an expander in the near future. This brings back this functionality but also allows you to incorporate external gear of any kind. It will be compatible with the first and second Cockpit generations.

Cockpit 2 is still a 4-channel stereo mixer equipped with the super useful ducking function. But now with increased headroom and improved sound quality. The interface also got a light but good facelifting. It now features blue/red instead of red/green LEDs which makes it Daltonic friendly. The black/gold version got a special treatment with new black matching knobs.

Features

  • Increased headroom
  • Improved sound quality
  • Daltonic friendly – the LEDs are blue/red instead of red/green
  • No TRRS jacks anymore
  • New knobs on the black module version
  • Lower price matched to the other audio processing modules of our 6hp collection like Milky Way and Squawk Dirty

The first generation Cockpit will be discontinued shortly. There’s a last run of a few Shuttle Systems that still use the Cockpit (1). In the future there will be an updated version of the Shuttle System using the Cockpit² as the final output stage. Here is a demo video of the first Cockpit module.

In my opinion, Cockpit 2 is one of the smartest stereo mixers available. Mainly because it’s space-saving and has a built-in side-chain ducking function. There’s one more good news: Endorphin.es has lowered the price of the Cockpit 2 to 185€ (incl. VAT) and $200 USD.
