Presets in music production are omnipresent. But they are also demonized, at least among part of the community. Modular synthesizers, for example, have a preset-free workflow. Grab a few cables, and you are off you go. With them, you create a sound that you can’t save like in a plugin.
But it has changed. Presets have also arrived in modular synthesizers. Numerous modules have the ability to store settings. One that brings presets to CV signals into Eurorack is the Endorphin.es Total Recall module. This probably wasn’t a great success. Perfect Circuit has dropped the price by 53%.

Total Recall is a 3-channel preset manager and macro controller module. It adds easy recall of preset voltages to your fingertips.
The module offers both a preset mode and a macro mode, each with different CV generations and processes.
Starting with the preset mode that gives you access to three CV levels, saved into eight slots. These work as either unipolar or bipolar generators or processors – when using any of the three preset CV inputs, the knobs become attenuators or attenuverters, depending on the polarity switch.
You can then automate the preset selection using the meta modes or sequence them using a CV or trigger signal. The triggered mode either jumps immediately between presets or with a 100ms slew, set by the smooth switch
The macro mode, on the other side, allows you to define the minimum and maximum voltage levels for the three outputs using the three knobs. These also work as CV processors with predefined levels and polarity settings.
Applying a CV signal will transition between the minimum and maximum levels, and a trigger input will jump from minimum to maximum with an optional 100ms slew.
