UVI Workstation 4 is a major update for its free player plugin with a new browser, tags, audio previews, and a free UVI Starter soundtrack.
Falcon 3 from the French company UVI is a powerful software Synthesizer. It is a virtual instrument with which you can sculpt your own complex sounds from scratch using pure multi-synthesis or multi-samples.
At the same time, UVI and third-party developers offer a huge number of libraries for those who want it simpler and use ready-made sounds. These are Falcon but also Workstation compatible.
The latter is a Kontakt Player-like free virtual instrument with which you can load and play the libraries without the superpower of Falcon 3. After a long time, UVI has just released version 4 of the Workstation plugin with major improvements.
UVI Workstation 4
Workstation 4 is a major update for its best-known free player plugin. The previous version was getting old and no longer looked as fresh as Falcon 3. The look and operation have been improved.
UVI Workstation 4 is a free update that ships with an all-new, modern user interface that simplifies the workflow. The difference from the previous version is particularly noticeable when searching for soundtracks and presets.
The developers have taken over much from the search engine of UVI Falcon 3 Synthesizer. It now has improved search functions, tags, favorites, and an optimized layout.
Then, Workstation 4 ships with a new audio preview function for every preset in the catalog. This helps users to speed up sound selection without disrupting creative flow.
As a bonus, the new UVI Workstation 4 ships with the UVI Starter soundpack, which includes sounds that serve as appetizers to the other commercially available libraries.
First Impression
The Workstation plugin needed an update, and UVI did this with v4. It doesn’t take the plugin to a new level, but it modernizes it and significantly improves the workflow. Good job.
UVI Workstation 4 is a free download and runs as a VST, VST3, AU, and AAX plugin on macOS (native Apple Silicon + Intel) and Windows. It offers native 64-bit operation in stand-alone and plug-in formats, supports surround setups up to 10.2 channels, and is compatible with all UVI and UVI-powered soundbanks.

it’s stuff like this that makes me appreciate banjo’s more and more every day.
As an audio/music/video producer and an actual user of these products to make a living, I think this is a great – and long overdue – update of UVI’s user interface. Hopefully, this will be the last of ‘john’s unproductive contributions – enjoy your banjo 😀
