Erica Synths intros Black Quad VCA 2, an update for its best-selling classic VCA module with small but useful extensions
Not only ALM Busy Circuits released an update for a best-seller module, but also Erica Synths from Latvia. They update its classic Black Quad VCA with subtle but good new features.
Like the predecessor, Black Quad VCA2 is a four-channel voltage-controlled mixer and amplifier module. One of the new additions is a switch for each channel to switch between a linear or logarithmic response.
All outputs are sequentially mixed and CV inputs are normalled to each other, so you can use the module in various configurations. If no CV is applied, the Black Quad VCA2 performs as a signal mixer, and the 4th channel is DC coupled for controlling CV sources, as well. The CV is also normalled so if you have CV patched only to the first channel it will control the other channels as well. Girts and his developers have also added LEDs above each knob to give you feedback on the signal level.
ES uses the same, custom pre-emphasis – de-emphasis circuit design again, which enables a clean and natural sound while giving you enough room to crack up the signal. Thanks to this, it preserves all the nuances of the original signal.
Features
- 4 independent VCAs
- Selectable lin/log response for each channel
- Manual CV bias and signal level adjustment
- Sequential output mixing
- Signal level indicator LEDs
A nice update that doesn’t have a lot of new features, but what’s new is useful and helpful.
Erica Synths Black Quad VCA 2 is available now for 200€ + VAT.
