French developer company Joué Music, known for its innovative, expressive MIDI controllers, goes out of business.
The year 2024 is coming to an end with great strides. Many are already looking back at the best products and the beautiful moments of the year. There were also many sad moments in 2024 that we shouldn’t forget. One reaches us shortly before Christmas.
Pascal Joguet, founder of the French music tech company Joué Music, announced today that they are going out of business at the end of the year.
Joué Music
As a reminder, the French company became known with its innovative, expressive Play MIDI controller.
A special of the Play was the ability to switch functions in seconds using silicon overlays. So, you could quickly convert the MIDI controller from a keyboard into a pad, freeboard, or morphing controller.
A special MIDI controller with a unique concept among many. With the end of the business, the development and sale of the Joué Music Play will now be discontinued. Here is the Pascal Joguet’s official statement about the closure:
Official Statement
It’s with a heavy heart that we announce the closing of Joué Music Instruments. After 8 incredible years of innovation, passion, and community, we’ve made the difficult decision to close our doors.
Despite two years of strong growth and international success, we were unable to archive the financial sustainability needed to continue our journey.
Along the way, we were honored to share J-Play instrument with music lovers around the globe, winning several international prizes and inspiring creativity in countless musicians. We are immensely proud of what we’ve accomplished together.
A heartfelt THANK YOU to our partners, team members, shareholders, suppliers, and – most of all – our clients and users who believed in our vision and supported us through every step. You made this journey unforgettable.
Special thanks to our amazing team: Arnaud, Emmanuel, Marjorie, Pascal, and Sebastien, who stood by us during the challenging year. From all of us at Joué Music Instruments, thank you for being part of this adventure. Let’s keep the music alive, always.
I wish the whole Joué Music team all the best for the future. Maybe we will see the team or part of it in other projects.

hi
do you have anymore information? I have a joue play in storage and I have not downloaded the midi editor I recall vaguely that this must be purchased. Any help I would be grateful for.
Another one bites the dust 😢
It’s so sad to see another french company producing music equipment go down, just a few weeks after Aodyo…
Hopefully there won’t be as many haters this time, since there wasn’t any fundraising in progress. I wish everyone involved good luck for their future endeavours.
Don’t be a child! Criticism for unethical conduct and raising funds whilst knowingly being aware that an entity cannot meet its commitments and obligations is not “hate”! Grow up!
At least in Joué case they are doing the honourable thing and being transparent!
I was able to get it for free from the Microsoft app store I believe Apple is the same. You just have to type in ‘j-pro’ and it is free. I believe it was $50 to purchase it is strange that the developers have left no information on the web page!
