Good news. Acustica Audio has fixed the TH2 Thing 2 Synthesizer over the Christmas holidays. I tested it immediately, and it now runs on my system without crashing.

In early December, Italian company Acustica Audio released the Thing Synthesizer Suite. A bundle that includes two Roland Jupiter-8-inspired synths plugins. I’m guilty. I forgot to cover the release, as there were just too many releases to do.
There is now another synth release from the developers. Acustica Audio has released TH2, a free Synthesizer plugin for the holidays.
Acustica Audio TH2
TH2 is a stripped-down version of the Thing Synthesizer. Like the Thing, the free version is based on Acustica Audio’s MUST technology (Modular Unified Synthesis Technology) where they combine their convolution with synthesis.
Acustica Audio TH2 is a duophonic Synthesizer with a single oscillator with four waveform, a sine/triangle sub-oscillator, and two filters. One is a multimode filter with six switchable modes and the second is a classic Roland highpass filter without resonance.
Then, it hosts a flexible envelope with four modes that can modulate the VCA, VCF or even the oscillator. Next to this, you have a multi-wave LFO with speed control and three destinations: VCF, VCA and VCO.
Further, you get a unison mode for fat sounds and an intruiging super stereo function for wider sounds. Additionally, you can add a more unpredictable character to it with the dedicated age parameter. To get it started, it ships various factory presets.
First Impression
A lovely free plugin from Acustica Audio. It’s not a massive synth, but it is a great tool for learning synthesis. Acustica Audio TH2 seems a bit buggy at the moment, as you can read in forums and social media. I hope they can fixed soonish.
Acustica Audio TH2 is now available for free download. It runs as a VST3, AU, and AAX plugin on macOS (native Apple Silicon + Intel) and Windows. You can download it directly from the official website or via the Aquarius Product Manager.

What a tasteful looking plugin
this app appears to install nothing other than an unistaller for the app. I see nothing in my system for an actual vst called TH2. seems fishy to me.
