Ekssperimental Sounds Transfluxer is a new multi-FX processor for Reason Rack Extension, turning your sounds into glitching, lush soundscapes.
I use Reasons not as a DAW but as a Rack plugin. Preferably, it is used as a multi-timbral modular Synthesizer or multi-effects processor. Reason’s mighty patchable engine makes this possible. That is why I always like to look at the latest Rack Extension release for Reason.
Ekssperimental Sounds, developer of various exciting RE synthesizers, has today released Transfluxer, a fascinating multi-FX that I must highlight to you.
Ekssperimental Sounds Transfluxer
Transfluxer is a new multi-FX processor with an experimental touch. The new Rack Extension bundles a wide range of effects designed to bend sounds to unusual sonic fields massively.
Let’s take a look at the effects, each with individual on/off switches. At the bottom of the RE, you can find an algorithm section that allows you to change the order of the effects.
The signal chain starts with an input amplifier with a level control. The first effect is a tape module that gives you sounds analog-style warmth with hiss, wobble, and more.
Just below the tape module, the Ekssperimental Sounds Transfluxer hosts a dual multimode filter with various modes, including classic lowpass and comb modes. You can tweak the filters with cutoff and resonance controls. The flanger with four mod FX flavors (mellow, sweepy, space, extreme) is just one below.
Glitching Granular
Next to the tape, you can find a mighty glitch module based on granular effects. It comes with various selectable rhythms and modulable controls (crush, intensity…). According to Ekssperimental Sounds, it is capable of creating rhythmic gating, pitch shifting, and reversing. Sounds very intruiging.
Then, you can find two independent reverb modules. Each module has three distinct algorithms for lush spatial effects. Reverb 1 includes small, large an huge algorithms, while reverb 2 gives you vintage, space, and grainy. Decay, tone, and mix controls let you fine-tune your lush spaces.
Also part of the new Ekssperimental Sounds Transfluxer Rack Extension is a versatile, sync-able granular delay with pitch-shifting and reversing capabilities. It’s fully tweakable with various controls like rate, pitch, feedback, mix, and more. Lo and hi-cut filters are also onboard, as well as modulation.
I’m not finished yet. There is also a flexible waveshaper with 11 selectable modes with various controls and a Lo-Fi module with bit and sample rate reduction. The latter infuses crunchy textures into your sounds.
A straightforward compressor, a three-mode limiter, and a parametric EQ are also part of the Ekssperimental Sounds Transfluxer menu. And an output section gives you fine-tuned control over your mix with panning and level control.
Modulation
Transfluxer also features a built-in modulator to animate parameters. It features traditional shapes (ramp up/down, triangle, square, random) and a modulation sequencer with up to 5 steps.
Alternatively, you can find CV inputs on the back of the rack extension for routing external modulation from other RE into the processor. The glitch, delay, and waveshaper modules also have independent audio jacks for more advanced setups.
To get it started, it ships with over 130 patches, showcasing the capabilities of the Rack Extension.
Ekssperimental Sounds Transfluxer: First Impression
A very exciting, experimental multi-FX processor. I like the mix of ambient focused effects and algorithms from the distortion effects. This results in soundscape that are both lush and smooth but also warmth and dirt.
A lovely vibe that you can also hear in the linked teaser demo. A pity that it’s only available for Reason Rack Extension.
Ekssperimental Sounds Transfluxer is available now for an introductory price of 64€ instead of 99€ in the official Reason store.
