TugMultiEffect by 2Rule is a new free modular patchable multi-fx plugin with eleven effects for macOS and Windows.

You don’t necessarily have to buy plugins in 2023 anymore. There are many great free alternatives that you can use to get started with music production at a low cost. One of the new developers is 2Rule, who offers some exciting free plugins. Among other things, a sequenceable multi-fx with a good amount of effects.

For his new free plugin TugMultiEffect he stays true to the effects—this time, however, in modular.

TugMultiEffect

TugMultiEffect is a new modular multi-effects plugin for macOS and Windows. Modular here means connecting the individual effect modules like in a modular synthesizer. So you can create custom effect signal paths.  The routing system is flexible and easy to use, allowing users to drag and drop connections between the different effects boxes says the developer.

The plugin offers 11 effects, including:

  • reverb
  • delay
  • chorus
  • decimator
  • distortion
  • phaser
  • pitch shifter
  • comb filter
  • vibrato
  • tremolo
  • filter (Moog-style ladder filter with self-resonance)

Each effect has a variety of parameters with which you can adjust them in detail. For example, the filter has different types, pan, cutoff, and resonance controls, and a built-in LFO with mod destinations.  Each module also has a randomizer, giving you instant new parameter settings.

First Impression

At first glance, it looks like a solid, versatile free modular FX plugin.

TugMultiEffect by 2Rule is available now as a free download. It runs as a VST3 plugin on macOS (Intel + native Apple Silicon) and Windows.
