iceWorks has turned its lovely Mersenne iOS AUv3 percussive Synthesizer into a macOS plugin, free update and patches.
The Japanese developer iceWorks has been porting its iOS AUv3 plugins to macOS Apple Silicon for some time. Many of his excellent developments use an internal resonator module to generate more unusual sounds. An effect I would like to see in more hardware and software synths.
Also, one of my favorite synth apps Mersenne, a beautiful-sounding percussive Synthesizer, uses a resonator at its core. Good news: Mersenne is now also available for macOS (Apple Silicon), and anyone who has bought the app for iOS in the past gets it for free.
iceWorks Mersenne macOS iOS
Mersenne is a lovely-sounding percussive Synthesizer that can generate timbres that can sound synthetic but also very acoustic/realistic. At its core, it combines two FM synthesis modules with a noise generator and a resonator.
Each tone generator (A/B) also hosts a body section, an advanced attack section, and an AD envelope with velocity and delay. The “BODY” section is optimized to create the base sound, and the ” ATTACK” section is optimized to create the sound at the moment of impact.
Then, there is also a multi-effects section with a built-in saturator, chorus, delay, and reverb. Mersenne can generate Bell sounds very well and many other unique physical modeling like timbres. Plus, you get a creative arpeggiator for creating quick patterns.
macOS AUv3 + Free Patches
With the new update 2.7, the iOS AUv3 plugin moves to the macOS platform. This is in the form of a free update for existing users. Important, it will only run on Apple Silicon systems.
I want to remind you that you can still download my preset library, Crystal Palace, with 40 patches for Mersenne for free. These patches are compatible with iOS and macOS. You can download it from the Synth Anatomy patch store.
Availability
I am very happy that Mersenne now also runs on macOS. It’s a lovely-sounding percussive Synth that I regularly use in live performances and I don’t want to miss in my arsenal.
iceWorks Mersenne is available now for $9,99 on the Apple AppStore. The new update 2.7, with macOS support is a free update. It runs as a standalone and AUv3 plugin on iPhones, iPads, and macOS (Apple Silicon systems).
Important note: Unfortunately, the Mac App Store is known to have a display bug regarding apps already purchased on an iOS device. In this case, you should still be able to continue the purchase process and download the app for free.
