Audiority Xenoverb is a reverb plugin for macOS and Windows, and is now also available for iOS AUv3 with 10 distinct reverb algorithms.

In recent years, more and more VST plugin developers have taken the step of offering their products for iOS: AudioThing, Eventide, Moderatt, Unfiltered Audio, and many more.

One of the most recent is Italian developer Audiority, which has two apps in the App Store: L12X Solid State Amplifier and Big Swarma. Now there’s a third: Audiority has ported Xenoverb, a popular reverb plugin for macOS and Windows, to iOS.

Audiority Xenoverb

Xenoverb is a beloved multimode reverb plugin that’s been available for macOS and Windows for years. With the iOS version, Audiority gives us the flexibility of Xenoverb, also now for mobile devices.

The plugin and algorithms are identical to the desktop version. Like the VST, it’s a very straightforward-to-use pedal-like reverb plugin with a few parameters.

You can tweak the pre-delay, diffusion, time, modulation, tone, bloom, lowpass filter cutoff, and dry/wet mix. Plus, there is a reverb freezer and limiter that can be switched on or off.

The highlight of the Xenoverb plugin is its wide selection of algorithms, ranging from classic to creative and experimental. You can work with 10 different programs:

  • room: a flexible room algorithm
  • hall: a classic yet versatile hall reverb, ranging from small concert venues to huge canyons
  • plate 1: classic plate reverb found in ‘70s hardware processors.
  • plate 2: an extended version of a classic plate algorithm found in late ‘70s hardware processors
  • springy: a fully algorithmic spring tank reverberator
  • glass (FDN): a modern, highly diffusive, and transparent reverb
  • flow: a lush, smooth, hugely diffusive creative reverb based on the ‘90s hardware processors
  • shimmer: a smooth reverb with a dual pitch shifter in a feedback loop
  • bode: a weird sound design-oriented algorithm made by placing a frequency shifter in the reverb feedback loop
  • formant: a unique reverb algorithm featuring a formant filter before the reverb tank

Xenoverb includes a range of presets that allow you to discover the reverb with your music instantly.

First Impression

I am pleased to see that Audiority’s app portfolio is also growing slowly. Xenoverb is a great reverb, and having it on iOS is excellent news.

Audiority Xenoverb is available now for $8,99 from the Apple App Store. It runs as a standalone app and AUv3 plugin on iOS (iPhone/iPad). The macOS and Windows (VST/VST3/AU/CLAP/AAX) versions are available for 49€.

To celebrate this release, you can grab the VST version for 29€ instead of 49€ from the official website.
