Decadebridge Triad is a new 3-oscillator drone/noise/glitch synth featuring a unique interconnecting concept.

In the past, I’ve featured the UK-based one-man boutique brand DecadeBridge several times. He recently gave away a free plugin, but he’s mainly known for his experimental drone synths.

His latest project, Triad, is another fun drone synth for little money.

The Triad is a small, square box with a red faceplate, joined by large white knobs, a smaller knob, and white buttons. The knob style and color can vary depending on the stock of the developer.

Like many previous DecadeBridge synths, Triad is a drone Synth with three square wave oscillators.

A three-oscillator drone synth doesn’t seem unusual at first glance. There are also drone synths with 32 or more oscillators. What’s special here, however, isn’t the number, but how these three oscillators are interconnected.

The three oscillators drive and reset each other in different ways depending on the switch/button settings. These combinations create a variety of sounds, including classic drone textures, rhythmic movements, and glitchy elements.

There is also an external trigger, gate, or clock input that can be used to reset two of the three oscillators. The linked video from Oscillator Sink shows interesting combinations of how to use this CV to add rhythm and other things.

Triad is powered by a 9V center-positive power supply or, alternatively, by a 9-volt battery block. A battery connector is included.

First Impression

A fun little drone synth that really shines when paired with other gear, especially effect pedals. Not a mainstream instrument, but a fascinating sound tool for experimental musicians.

DecadeBridge Triad is available now for an introductory price of 110,92€, down from 123,25€ at its Etsy shop. The deal is valid until September 2, 2025. It’s handmade in Cheshire, England.
