Cubic Audio Ascension is a multi-engine Synthesizer plugin for macOS and Windows, available now for just $1 for a limited time.

At least one new synth plugin hits the market every week. It’s safe to say that the market is full, and I don’t think anyone has a grasp of everything that’s available anymore. So it’s normal that many softsynths are released and then just as easily forgotten by the wider community.

Something similar happened with the Ascension Synthesizer when it was released in 2019. A lot of news, but it didn’t become a permanent topic. The success was limited, so the initial company W.A. Production separated from it and the developer took over complete marketing.

He has since sold it under his own company Cubic Audio. To keep the plugin alive, updates are necessary. These cost money, especially for a company. I guess that moment has come again.

Audio Plugin Deals has announced a limited time super sale on the Cubic Audio Ascension Synthesizer with a sound library with extra presets for just $1. $1 sounds like a no-brainer deal or?

Cubic Audio Ascension

Ascension is a multi-engine Synthesizer plugin for macOS and Windows, offering both rompler and synthesis functionalities.

The core consists of four multimode oscillators, which can use sampled ROM from classic analog and digital synths, subtractive synthesis with FM, wavetable, or single-cycle waves. It ships with 6GB of sample-based content and 1300 pre-installed waveforms, says Cubic Audio.

Draw or import your own waveforms in Ascension’s waveform editor. With the latest update, 1.6, you can also create vector curves for both oscillator waveforms and LFOs. Of course, it also offers filter. In this case, it’s a multimode filter with 16 types with cutoff, resonance and drive controls.

It has two fixed (amp/filter) and four auxiliary envelopes on the modulation side. Plus, it has two LFOs with customizable waveforms. All this is programmable in a flexible modulation matrix with 32 target destinations. Besides the envelopes, and LFOs, you get the usual functions like mod wheel, aftertouch, velocity, and more.

Then to refine your sounds, Cubic Audio Ascension hosts a drag-n-drop multi-FX processor with six shapeable algorithms: distortion, chorus, phaser, EQ, delay, and reverb.

A highlight of the Ascension is its advanced arpeggiator with the built-in MIDI Player mode. It ships with thousands of royalty-free MIDI loops that you can audition in the synth and drag and drop straight to your DAW’s timeline.

Further, it comes with a resizable UI, skin modification options, and a preset manager with over 1700 ready-to-use presets.

The free Analog Classics Expansion features additionally 128MB of new multi-sampled ROM with 47 basses, 42 synths, 20 pads, 10 MIDI apreggios, 4 drum kits, and 4 sequences.

Deal or Not?

At $1, I guess you don’t have to think about whether you’re getting the best synth plugin even. To me, it sounds like a no-brainer since it offers many features. I’m 100% sure it won’t beat synths like Serum 2, Avenger 2 etc but as a source for new sounds it can be quite interesting.

Good since update 1.5.1, there is also native Apple Silicon support. I hope that the development continues and is secured through this sale.

Cubic Audio Ascension is available now for $1 exclusively at Audio Plugin Deals. It runs as a VST2, VST3, AU and AAX plugin on macOS (native Apple Silicon + Intel) and Windows.
