AudioThing Wave Box is a dual waveshaper plugin with built-in modulation for macOS, Linux, Windows, and iOS AUv3.
Waveshapers are familiar from the synthesis world. They gives sound designers options in their hand to bend waveforms into more complex ones. Waveshapers can also be used on traditional audio content to add character and bite.
The AudioThing WaveBox plugin includes two flexible waveshapers, offering even more shaping options than a single one. Good news, it is now also available for iOS with AUv3 plugin support.
AudioThing Wave Box
Wave Box is a dynamic dual waveshaper plugin that generates symmetrical and asymmetrical distortion.
The core consists of two separate waveshapers, each with six adjustable pre-defined functions (tanh, sinh, sin, linear, floor, round) that can be adjusted independently and mixed. The result are plenty of different waveshaper shapes. Plus, you can shape them further, using the built-in multimode filter.
Then, you have built-in modulators to animate the waveshapers, including two multi-wave LFOs and an envelope follower.
The envelope follower is particularly fun because you can use the audio signal to set the waveshaping in dynamic motion. Further, AudioThing Wave Box ships with 30 ready-to-use factory presets to play around with. You can create almost endless waveshaper timbres if you don’t find a suitable sound among the ones in the factory library.
Wave Box sound spectrum can range from mild tube-flavoured overdrive to extreme digital harshness.
First Impression
A beautiful, flexible waveshaper plugin with a very easy-to-use user interface. I’m happy this AudioThing plugin is now available on iOS.
To celebrate the iOS release, AudioThing Wave Box for macOS, Linux, and Windows is available now for 19€ instead of 49€. The iOS version with AUv3 support is out now for $6,99 on the Apple App Store.

are you using AI for text and headlines? The wording and grammar is weird and hard to read. Usually have to read over things a couple of times to understand what you’re saying
no AI! I’m not native english. Sorry, I am only quadrilingual and I don’t see a problem with my reading. I found a grammar issue in your comment as well: it’s not “The wording and grammar is” but the wording and grammar are. Ei Ei Ei
