Full Bucket Music Ragnarök 2.0 is an update for its free Synthesizer plugin for macOS and Windows with a new saw oscillator bank and more.

One of the most popular Synthesizer plugin developers is Björn from Full Bucket Music. This is because he has made many Synthesizer plugins available to the community for free over the last few years. And he updates them regularly. Thank you!

Ragnarök is one of his oldest synth plugins. He made it in collaboration with Hans Peter aka CrimsonWarlock aka TechnoGremlin who was responsible for the synth concept, GUI design, and more. 10 years after the official release, back then only for Windows, there is now Ragnarök 2.0 with new features. And of course for free.

Ragnarök 2.0 is a new version of its virtual analog Synthesizer plugin for macOS and Windows. Version 2.0 brings various new features that I will highlight in this article.

After installation, you will immediately notice the new user interface, which is now resizable. After the plugin has been available for several years, these changes make it more modern again.

Like the previous version, it uses a unique band-limited oscillator bank with various waveform banks, including square, pulse, interval, and multi-voice. Full Bucket Music added in Ragnarök 2.0, a new sawtooth oscillator bank with four selectable ranges: 16, 8, 4, and 2.

The core also comes with a white noise generator that can be mixed with the oscillator source control. Ragnarök 2.0 features oscillator hard sync, allowing you to create sharp sounds.

The signal then flows into a multi-pole zero-delay feedback filter with 6, 12, 18, and 18dB options and lowpass and highpass settings.

Two envelopes (ADSR or AD) with exponential slopes and a low-frequency oscillator (LFO) are part of the modulation. The LFO now ships with alternative LFO waveforms unavailable in version 1, making it more flexible.

To refine your sounds, it ships again with a built-in overdrive, chorus, and a 7-band graphic equalizer. Also onboard is again the repeater/pseudo-arpeggiator.

Further, it has MTS-ESP by ODDSound dynamic micro-tuning and full MIDI support, including MIDI CC learn. Ragnarök 2.0 also now has velocity sensitivity. According to Full Bucket Music, the plugin also ships with more fixes and improvements.

There is currently no sound demo of the new version on YouTube but I linked one of the previous.

First Impression

A nice update for the Ragnarök Synthesizer. Two thumbs up for the work Björn always does. Free plugins plus free updates that’s very impressive.

Full Bucket Music Ragnarök i is available now as a free download and runs as a VST, VST3, AU, AAX, and CLAP plugin for macOS (native Apple Silicon + Intel) and Windows. A donation option is available if you want to support the developer.

  1. Still don’t get why they tried to emulate an 80s synth with the skin, instead of just material designing it (knobs on a screen… even a touchscreen are really bad and in the “But why?” -category). Sounds Ok, though.
