Universal Audio has released the native version of its previously Apollo-exclusive 610 Tube Preamp & EQ Collection plugin, and it’s FREE for a limited time
UAD plugins were locked behind a hardware DSP paywall for a very long time. This changed with the native updates, which made them available to everyone, including those without hardware access.
Another plugin from the DSP list is now available to all. Universal has released the native version of its 610 Tube Preamp & EQ Collection plugin. Good news: it’s a free download until the end of February 2026.
Universal Audio 610 Tube Preamp & EQ Collection
The 610 Tube Preamp & EQ Collection is a new native plugin in the Universal Audio portfolio, previously available only to Apollo hardware users.
It’s an emulation of the tube-amplified 610 modular console (variants A and B), first introduced in 1960 by Bill Putnam Sr.
The channel strips of this legendary hardware defined the sound of modern recording with their rich tube harmonics and saturation.
Universal Audio modeled the tube amplifiers, transformers, and EQ circuits of the original hardware and put them into a plugin for your DAW.
They promise it delivers the same warmth and vintage sound that shaped generations of classic records. Both processors are very easy to use. They have a few controls, but they are effective.
The 610 plugin adds presence and warmth to vocal recordings, helping them stand out in your mix. You can also use them as a fat tube saturator plugin to make your guitars, synths, and drums come alive.
First Impression
It’s positive that the plugin has now made it to the list of natively running plugins. Even better that it can now be downloaded for free for a limited time. And don’t write to me after two months saying, “Well, it’s not free.” Check the website daily to avoid missing offers like these.
Universal Audio 610 Tube Preamp & EQ Collection is available for free download through February 28, 2026. It runs as a VST, VST3, AU, and AAX plugin on macOS (native Apple Silicon + Intel) and Windows.
It requires a free iLok account (or dongle) and the UA Connect software.
