tucktuckg00se INTERSECT is a new free, open-source sample slicer plugin for macOS, Linux, and Windows with built-in time/pitch algorithms.
Open-source seems to be the hot topic in the plugin world right now. There have never been so many free, open-source plugins released in recent months. And the number keeps growing.
Now there’s something for sample lovers too! tucktuckg00se has released INTERSECT, a new cross-platform sample slicer plugin, and you are right, it’s open-source.
tucktuckg00se INTERSECT
INTERSECT is a new free, open-source sample slicer for macOS, Linux, and Windows. tucktuckg00se has given INTERSECT many features that are otherwise found in commercial products. The creative feature density is high.
Like in other sample slicers, you can import a sample by simply dragging-and-dropping it into the plugin window. According to the specs, it supports WAV, OGG, AIFF, FLAC and MP3 so the most important formats.
In the plugin, you can then slice manually by drawing slices, use the chop live function (LAZY), or split them automatically. You can playback them then via MIDI notes right from a MIDI keyboard, pad controller or your DAW.
Of course, you can mangle the slices further with various creative features. For example, you can set the playback algorithm, including repitch (pitch and speed are linked) , time stretech and bungee. The latter is a granular stretch mode with grain choices.
In the section, you can also determine the set BPM for both global and slices. It calculates the BPM from the musical duration.
Alongside this, there is also a per-voice filter with LP, HP, BP, and notch modes, key tracking, drive, and its own ADSR envelope. The drive is pre-filter so it adds harmonics before the filter rather then simply turning the signal up.
Always welcome are undo/redo functions described as snapshot-based history for slice and parameter edits. The user interface is very simple and very easy to use. This plugin is therefore perfect for both beginners and advanced users.
First Impression
At first glance, this is an exciting open-source sample slicer with many modern features. I’m curious to see how its development progresses. Thanks to the developer!
tucktuckg00se INTERSECT is available for free download now. It runs as a standalone app and VST3 and AU plugin on macOS (native Apple Silicon + Intel), Linux, and Windows.
