DEAL: save 20% OFF on the Oberheim OB-X8 keyboard and desktop polyphonic analog synthesizers for a limited time (US/CA only).
At the beginning of July, Oberheim released firmware 2.0 for its flagship analog polyphonic Synthesizer, the OB-X8. This fresh firmware added a new filter mode, binaural mode, poly chain, MPE, and more.
Anyone interested in buying an OB-X8 and living in the US or Canada should think about it now. There is a big limited-time sale going on.
Deal Oberheim OB-X8 (Keyboard/Desktop)
Today, Oberheim announced a 20% discount on both the keyboard and desktop versions of the OB-X8. The keyboard version is now $3999,99 instead of $4999,99 ($1000 OFF), and the desktop is now $2799,99 instead of $3499,99 ($700 OFF).
In terms of hardware synths, these are significant discounts. As a reminder, the key features of the OB-X8 are:
- Two discrete SEM/OB-X-lineage VCOs per voice sine, saw, square, triangle, and noise with variable levels per oscillator
- variable triangle wave cross-mod
- Discrete SEM-lineage filters for OB-X tones with added SEM high-pass, band-pass, and notch filter types to classic low-pass filter
- feature combinations of the SEM, OB-8, OB-X, and OB-Xa in one device, plus the original presets
- enhanced unison for stacking up to all eight voices
- modeled and refined envelope responses for matching each model
- bi-Timbrality for splits and layered patches
- per-voice panning programmability for unique stereo-width
- 400+ factory presets with 600+ user-programmable preset locations
Deal Or Not
For those who are very interested, this is an excellent deal. $1000 less on a keyboard OB-8X or $700 less on a desktop is already a lot of money. It’s a pity there is no deal for Europe.
The deal on the Oberheim OB-X8 synthesizers is valid until September 30th, 2024, and is only valid in the US and Canada.

Some dealers will ship to europe for 100$
Not selling well? Storage costs money too, and this could be a way to keep damage in check.
-$1000 and -$700 …and yet the sellers still make a profit? well, I think they’ve been taking the piss out of us lately.
So you’re gonna be really pissed off when you hear how dealership structure works 🙂
Dealers usually get 30% off retail. With this kind of sale dealers will usually get their margin from the sale price. So they will probably get the keyboard version for 2800$ (5000-20%-30%) but it’s also possible there is a minimum order requirement, like 10x units or more.
It’s a good opportunity for the dealer’s workers to get it 🙂
