UVI Digital Synsations Vol. 1
The French developers have teamed up with the Mixing and Mastering Tips Facebook Group to offer the Digital Synsations Volume 1 as a free download. It’s a sample-based virtual instrument powered by the free UVI Workstation and Falcon plugins.
Digital Synsations Vol 1 is a bundle of four independent instruments featuring deeply sampled sounds from four legendary vintage digital synths.
It focuses on synths from the 90s, including the Yamaha SY77, Roland D50, Korg M1, and Ensoniq VFX. Again, these are not 1-to-1 emulation but sample-based sounds. For this, the sound designers multi-sampled the four synths.
But with a more creative approach. Instead of sampling the factory sounds, UVI designed custom sounds on the respective vintage synths and multi-sampled them. In total, you can explore over 600 presets.
Great here is the interaction with the UVI engine. The built-in sounds are not fixed. You can deeply customize the presets, allowing you to apply filters, modulations, and various effects.
Then, you can also use built-in arpeggiators to create interesting melodies. These sound-shaping options make the four instruments very flexible. Not as deep as the hardware, but you get the vibe of these vintage sounds.
