NoisyFruitsLab Kick v2 is a new analog drum module for Eurorack, reproducing the famous 808 drums in just 4HP.

Modular synthesizers are fascinating instruments. The exciting thing about it is the flexibility. No two systems are the same. Each system differs from the other through a different composition of modules, resulting in unique, very personal instruments.

And you don’t have to focus on a pure Synthesizer. Modular also allows you to build patchable effect processors or drum machines. To friends of the latter, there is now an affordable TR-808 for the Eurorack.

Kick v2 is a straightforward module. As the name suggests, it’s a 4HP kick drum voice for Eurorack.

According to NoisyFruits Lab, it’s a major update to the previously available version. I didn’t know version 1, so it’s time to feature the new one.

The module is based on an analog circuit inspired by the famous Roland TR-808 drum machine. You can trigger the kick sounds using the dedicated socket. Additionally, you can work with accents.

Once triggered, classic 808 kicks will sound from your speakers. You can tweak your kicks with a handful of parameters, including pitch, envelope, and tone. It also hosts a diode distortion circuit, adding more character to your kicks.

Version 2 also comes with two 2 CV inputs for the accent and pitch.

First Impression

Very simple module that does exactly what it promises. I like modules like this that a straight to the point.

NoisyFruitsLab Kick v2 is available now for 100€.
