The Dutch sound designer duo The Solos have teamed up with Steinberg for Dark Mass, a new cinematic preset library for Retrologue synth
To work as a sound designer is a great wish of many. The market is tough, however, and fewer are making the sonic breakthrough. Two of them are Allert Aalders and Richard Veenstra who are part of the Dutch award-winning trailer music agency The Solos. Their music and sound designs have been used in many big movie trailers like Captain Marvel, Dark Phoenix, and more. Allert is also known from the Eurorack corner especially in the Dutch community.
For their new project Dark Mass, they built a new preset library with Steinberg for the Retrologue Synthesizer.
The Solos Dark Mass For Steinberg Retrologue
The Solos has created a new preset library for Steinberg’s Retrologue virtual analog Synthesizer that is tailored for cinema and scores. The library contains 151 unique sounds that range from deep subs, decomposed basses, soaring leads to more momentous and spacious rhythms sounds. The aim was to create dark-sounding and powerful sounds, ideal for movies, trailers, and electronic sources. The sound designers say:
” We wanted to create a library of sounds we actually use ourselves in the scores for trailers we work on.” (Richard Veenstra)
“Dark Mass has that ominous, dark and raw sound which is basically The Solos’ signature sound.” (Allert Aalders)
The Solos Dark Mass is available now 29,99€ from the official Steinberg web shop. The library requires a license of Retrologue Synthesizer.
