Weston Precision Audio Trivium is a new module in collaboration with artist Trovarsi that turns any oscillator into a synth voice.
Eurorack synthesizers typically consist of synth voices assembled in a single module or individual modules. The first option, which I prefer, saves space by consolidating everything in a single module.
The disadvantage is that you must use the oscillator that the developer selected during design. Weston Precision Audio has partnered with modular artist Trovarsi to create Trivium, a module that offers the convenience of a synth voice without a fixed oscillator.
Weston Precision Audio Trivium
Trivium is a collaboration between Weston Precision Audio and Trovarsi, a modular music performer and producer. Trivium is a 12HP module that offers everything you need to build a versatile synth voice, minus the oscillator.
This has the great advantage that you can quickly and easily transform your favorite oscillator, analog or digital, into a synth voice without buying five extra modules.
Trivium’s core consists of four elements: a filter, two envelopes, and a VCA. The filter is a discrete OTA state-variable voltage-controlled filter with selectable lowpass, bandpass, and highpass characteristics.
It’s controllable with three controls: cutoff, resonance, and filter envelope. Then, it features two envelopes, each with a distinct characteristic. There is one ADSR-type envelope with dedicated controls, and an AD/AR envelope with controls as well.
Additionally, you can work with a VCA that includes a built-in overdrive section, providing sounds ranging from clean and precise to dirty and distorted.
The routing section in the Trivium module allows assigning envelopes and pre- and post-arranging the filter.
On the connection side, you have CV inputs for both envelopes (env 1: decay and release, env 2: attack and decay/release), filter (cutoff, resonance), and VCA envelope. Plus, you have envelope outputs and a main output.
A demo of the new Trivium module is not yet available.
First Impression
At first glance, a very useful module with which you can quickly create synth voices. I would have liked an LFO to complete it. Nevertheless, a great concept for a module.
Weston Precision Audio Trivium will be available soon for $295.

Devin’s devices are on TOP, got 2 of his oscillo, the fantastic HV1 and the strong 2V2, and I secretly dreamt he build such a device, encapsulatinng a filter a VCA and an env. and I was super amazd to see Trivium poped on Modulargrid, I am very impatient to get my hands on it, thank you for the news
