Infinitedigits Ezeptocore brings the breakbeat mangling sampler Zeptocore to Eurorack in collaboration with Maneco Labs.

The Zeptocore is a super exciting open-source breakbeat mangling sampler that has generated significant interest over the last two years. The Zeptocore is best known as a small groovebox in the form of a Pocket Operator. The VST version was released at the end of last year.

Back in 2024, the developer showcased the Zeptocore as Eurorack module at Superbooth. Sadly, Ectocore was always sold out. Good news: Infinitedigits has partnered with Maneco Labs to offer the Ezeptocore module as a regular product.

Both Ectocore and EZEPTOCORE are identical in design and feature set, differing only in their faceplates. Infinitedigits EZEPTOCORE is manufactured by Maneco Labs.

Those who remember correctly will know that Maneco Labs has already released a Zeptocore module. However, that version is significantly larger and more raw. It’s not finished and elegant like this one.

The EZEPTOCORE is an algorithmic breakbeat mangling sampler for Eurorack. It uses the Zeptocore handheld’s code, with additional Eurorack-focused features.

At its core, EZEPTOCORE combines sample playback with a Turing machine–inspired random sequencer (rungler) that generates evolving slice patterns and rhythmic variation.

Audio is delivered to the module via a microSD card slot. It can recall up to 256 audio files, organized into 16 banks of 16 tracks.

Once you select your desired sample/loop, the module streams the audio directly from the microSD card. From here, you can slice, chop, transform, and rhythmically re-sequence the sounds in real time.

Real-Time Mangling

The workflow we already know from Pocket Operator-style Zeptocore, only in one module. This on-the-fly sample rearranging enables dynamic breakbeats, glitch textures, and constantly shifting grooves without repetitive programming.

EZEPTOCORE’s interface offers a range of parameters that let you quickly and intuitively remix and chop your samples/loops.

Another highlight of the Zeptocore engine, also present here, is the built-in DSP engine packed with effects. You can work with various colorful algorithms, including: delay, comb filtering, time-stretching, tape stop, reverse playback, and fuzz distortion.

There is more. You also have beat repeat, resonant filtering, bitcrusher, vinyl scratch, auto-pan, transient tightening, and sample expansion processing. Plus, you have internal master effects: distortion, DJ filter, and gate effects.

Unlike the handheld version, Infinitedigits EZEPTOCORE comes with CV inputs for every parameter and trigger outputs. The latter analyzes your selected loop and provides matching triggers for kick, snare, and transient outputs.

First Impression

I’m pleased to see that Infinitedigits has now found a partner in Maneco Labs, who can produce the module in larger quantities. This means the days of it being sold out are probably over.

Infinitedigits EZEPTOCORE is available now for $429.
