NAMM 2026: Nord Electro 7 is the next generation of its stage keyboard, with a new synth engine, organ, and more.

Last week, Nord announced the Electro 7 ahead of NAMM 2026. Many keyboard players criticized the lack of pitch and mod wheels, especially since it now offers an all-new synth engine.

This is rare, but Nord announced one day before NAMM that they would be revising the Electro 7 design with a pitch stick and mod wheel.

Nord Electro 7 update

The demo videos currently circulating online show units without pitch stick or mod wheel. This will also apply to the NAMM demo units. However, the production units of the 73 and the HP models will offer them, while the 61 will not. Strange decision to me.

They write on Instagram:

We appreciate your passionate engagement and feedback on the Nord Electro 7. Playability and real time control is something we always strive to improve.

You made it clear that the new synth section deserves a pitch stick and modulation wheel. We have now decided to add these features to the 73 and HP models

This is a very welcome step that Nord is taking. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a developer modify their device while setting up the  NAMM booth.

Update

Article from January 16, 2025

Every year, the NAMM Show in Anaheim (LA) brings the music industry together. The Swedish company Nord often uses the opportunity to update its product range. Last year, they introduced the Nord Piano 6. This year, another product gets an upgrade.

Ahead of NAMM 2026, Nord has introduced the Electro 7, the next generation of its popular stage keyboard.

The seventh generation of the Electro stage keyboard is available in three versions.

The 61-key and 73-key version of the Nord Electro 7 features the proven semi-weighted waterfall keyboard, while the Electro 7 HP boasts a new triple-sensor keyboard from Kawai.

Unlike the previous version, all three versions now include physical drawbars with LEDs for the organ section. The design is classic Nord in red.

All three versions feature a new control panel design with a large color display and push encoders, making it easy to select categories and sounds in the program, piano, and synthesizer sections.

The tried-and-tested concept has remained in the seventh version. It combines vintage electro mechanical, and acoustic instruments in a stage keyboard. More precisely, you have three engines: synthesizer, organ, and piano.

New Synth Engine

At the core of the new Electro 7 is an all-new Synthesizer engine with virtual analog waveforms, FM synthesis, samples, and unison option. According to Nord, the content is compatible with the Nord sample library.

These sound generators are shapeable with an adjustable lowpass filter and a dual envelope for the amp and filter/FM. Additionally, you have a vibrato button with adjustable speed, intensity, and speed.

On the side, you can find Nord’s latest piano features with the new organ models and three mic position rotary speaker emulations from the Nord Organ 3. You can find the B3, B3 Bass, Vox, Farfisa, Soft B3, and pipe organ. They are fully adjustable with the new physical drawbars.

Nord Electro 7 also introduces an expanded effects section. It’s now available for each sound engine, including a new spring reverb, and amp models (Brit and Suticase). Plus, you have new controls for the rate and amount of all modulation effects.

Everything remains the same on the back: a built-in power supply input, foot switch input, USB port, sustain pedal socket, 5-pin MIDI in/out, an expression pedal input, stereo output on two 6.3mm mono sockets, headphone socket, and a monitor in.

Thanks to the new expression pedal assign function, synthesizer parameters can now be controlled even more easily in real time while playing. Electro 7 features 20 banks with 25 programs and 500 patch locations.

First Impression

A solid upgrade for the Nord Electro stage keyboard. No surprises in terms of features, but that’s not what you’d expect from Nord.

Nord Electro 7 will be available in Q2 2026: the 61-key version for 2499€, the 73-key version for 2699€, and the Electro 7 HP for 2999€.

  1. This is the first electro with a synth engine more capable than just samples, right? Seems almost like a stage-lite now. I think that adds much more value to justify the relatively high cost of the electros.

    That’s good news.
It didn’t make sense at all money wise.
Still would be good on the 61 but at least they ve listened there after all the backlash
