NAMM 2026: Behringer D Mini, initially announced D Soul is a Moog Minimoog Model D-style mono analog synth, and is now ready.
In March 2022, Behringer announced an extensive lineup of budget-friendly synthesizers, a bit like its answer to the Korg Volca series. Many of these are now available. One of them was the D Soul, a Minimoog D-like mono synth.
At NAMM 2026, Behringer showcased the finished version of the D Soul, now called D Mini.

Behringer D Mini
The D Mini is the little brother of the regular Behringer Model D. Little Brother refers not only to the format but also to the analog engine. It offers less than the popular Model D.
Like its brother, it is based on the original circuits of the legendary Moog Minimoog from the 1970s. It features three oscillators with saw, triangle, shark, square, and pulse waveforms. However, it has only a single knob that tweaks all three oscillators simultaneously.
Additionally, you have a noise generator with white and pink noise timbres. On the left are the various voice modes, familiar from other small Behringer synths: poly (three-voice paraphonic), unison, ring mod, etc.
Then, it hosts an authentic reproduction of the legendary ladder lowpass filter with resonance control—an essential part of any Minimoog-style synth. There is a single ADS envelope and an LFO with four different waveforms.
The envelope modulates the built-in VCA, with options to route it to the oscillator and filter. The LFO can animate the oscillator and the filter.

Motion Sequencer
Like the previous Behringer mini synths, you can play it either with the built-in 27-key touch keyboard or with the 16-step sequencer with 8 memory slots and motion recording. The latter allows you to record knob movements into the pattern.
The keyboard also serves as a menu structure for the sequencer and other synth settings.
On the connectivity side, the Behringer D Mini has a USB-C port, a headphone jack, sync in and out ports for syncing with other synths, and a 5-pin TRS Mini input. The USB port powers the unit via your smartphone, power bank, or computer.
In the original announcement, Behringer said it comes with a comprehensive MIDI implementation (including NRPN/CC control of all parameters and bulk load/save). So, it’s possible to create a software editor for it.
First Impression
Four years after its announcement and the prototype, the D Mini is now around the corner. I’m curious to hear how it sounds and whether it sounds as good as the 199€ Model D.
The ability to control the parameters from a computer is undoubtedly a significant advantage over the regular Model D. Still, it offers fewer features and probably costs only half as much.
Behringer D Mini (former D Soul) will be available soon. Price is TBA, but they announced in 2022 for $99 USD.
