Yonac Kauldron, an analog-modeling Synthesizer for iOS, is now 2.0, with improved AUv3 support, an enhanced sound engine, iOS 26 support, and more.

Kauldron is an analog modeling Synthesizer by Yonac, released in 2017. That’s already eight years. Wow, how time flies. What many readers may not know: Kauldron was among the first synthesizers to use AI. It was used to develop the SPAWN² engine, which allows you to generate new sounds instantly.

Yonac is giving its existing users a special treat just before Christmas. Kauldron 2.0 is now available as a free update, featuring numerous improvements.

Yonac Kauldron 2.0

Kauldron 2.0 is a free update for all existing users. Go to the App Store and download the update. The feature set of the app is almost identical to the 2017 release. It is a classic subtractive analog-modeling Synthesizer with three oscillators, a multimode filter, two envelopes, two LFOs, etc.

The changes are not visible; they are hidden at the core. Version 2.0 brings improvements across the board, including the sound engine, the SPAWN² engine, and AUv3 plugin support. For example, it now has more robust AUv3 behavior and offers modernized AUv3 MIDI handling. It now also supports parameter automation.

However, it’s a shame that the developers have discontinued support for Inter-App Audio. Since the technology is deprecated, the developers decided to remove the new version.

Furthermore, I find it a shame that Kauldron didn’t receive macOS AUv3 support with update 2.0. Recent Yonac apps, such as the Zodiac Echo (Roland Space Echo), do support macOS. That’s somewhat inconsistent. I hope they will add this in a future update. Of course, it also brings iOS 26 support.

Nevertheless, I am very pleased with this update and the app’s continued development. Thank you.

Yonac Kauldron is available now for $9,99 on the Apple App Store. The update 2.0 is free of charge. Kauldron runs on iOS (iPhone and iPad) as both a standalone app and an AUv3 plugin.

Update

Article from November 17, 2017

Following the recent release of the KASPAR automorphing Synthesizer, Yonac is back today with another Synthesizer app for iOS.

Kauldron is a powerful Synthesizer with a warm-sounding, analog-modeling engine.

Yonac Kauldron

Kauldron features analog modeling oscillators, multiple waveforms, and true PWM. It’s a good decision from the developer to implement FM between oscillator 1 and 2.

The new Yonac Kauldron is not just another simple analog-style Synthesizer. They also implemented the next generation of its Artificial Intelligence preset creation system SPAWN².

With these new features, you can design new sounds very quickly. 900 factory presets give you already a nice amount of sound, ranging from bass, lead, drones, pads, and more

Big plus points to the developers for adding AUv3 support from the start, enabling you to work with Kauldron in multiple instances.

A very interesting new Synthesizer. Unfortunately, I can’t test it right now because I’m currently in Tokyo. Hope that I can release something in the future about the new Kauldron Synthesizer by Yonac.
