Acustica Audio Stone is a new free channel strip plugin for macOS and Windows with tone-shaping capabilities.
Last year at Christmas, the Italian software company Acustica Audio gave away the Jupiter-inspired Synthesizer TH2, which is still available as a free download.
For Christmas 2025, they have a new free plugin. Acustica Audio has today released Stone, a free tone-shaping channel strip plugin for macOS and Windows.
Acustica Audio Stone
Stone is a new Acqua plugin that delivers rich tone, musical character, and creative control. According to Acustica Audio, Stone isn’t a super classic vintage channel strip; it’s more of a unique processor.
At its core is a custom modular signal path inspired by rare British audio designs (1960s and 1970s). It consists of a pre-gain/drive/saturation unit, EQ, and more.
The key feature of Stone is the single-knob Magic Morph control that blends drive, stereo movement, and space in one go. It acts a bit like a macro control that adds extra sauce to your signal.
Stone also features a three-band stereo EQ with fixed bass and treble shelves, a selectable presence band, and smooth high-pass and low-pass filters. In the same row is a switchable mid/side processor with channel link and oversampling.
Additionally, you get a VU meter for detailed metering, and for greater precision, there are built-in analytical listening modes.
If you didn’t enjoy the hardware-like UI, Acustica Audio also offers an alternative black 2D UI.
First Impression
A lovely Christmas present from Acustica Audio. Since the plugin will remain free even after Christmas, there’s no rush.
Acustica Audio Stone is available for free download. It runs as a VST3, AU, and AAX plugin on macOS (native Apple Silicon + Intel) and Windows. It requires Acustica’s Aquarius installation manager
