Speaking Of Witch The Sampler is a new AUv3 sampler for iOS and macOS that turns text into playable sounds. Cem Olcay Speaking Of Witch The Sampler is super simple to use, or is it witchcraft?
Type any phrase and instantly generate expressive, high-quality speech samples you can play, sequence with MIDI, and process like any other instrument.
At its core is a professional speech synthesis engine with real-time rendering, offering multiple voices and languages. Among others, it has these languages: Australian, British, Irish, Indian, and American.
The app features 16 sample generation pads, each with its own independent voice and text. Once the sample has been generated, it can be tweaked afterwards with various parameters. First, you can adjust the playback speed, pan, and gain of each sound.
Then, you can select playback mode (one-shot, reverse, loop, loop back, or ping pong) and adjust the start and end positions of the sample. On the last two UI pages, you can work with envelopes for pitch and amplitude shaping.
It’s handy that you can change the color of each pad, giving you the freedom to work with the samples as needed. Additionally, it offers an 8-bus multi-output audio routing functionality for professional mixing.
Thanks to AUv3 support and CPU-friendliness, multiple instances of the app can be used.
First Impression
It’s a lovely app for quickly creating your own voice samples. The app is very intuitive and easy to understand. You don’t need any witchcraft to use it.
The results range from realistic to bizarre. The speech synthesizer performs well, but the results are highly dependent on the language and the speaker. In the sea of often identical synths or samplers, this is a refreshingly new app and AUv3 plugin.
