Xaoc Devices Kamieniec II: the next generation of its analog phaser module with expandable stages via the optional Allpass Expansion.
Phasers, not the Star Trek ones, create distinctive swooshing or swirling effects, usually by running signals through all-pass filters. There are tons of phasers in plugins. However, there are relatively few in Eurorack, but hey, there are some interesting ones.
One has now received a major upgrade. Xaoc Devices has released Kamieniec II, a major redesign of its beloved analog phaser module, now with easily expandable characteristics.
Xaoc Devices Kamieniec
Kamieniec II (10HP) is the successor of Xaoc Devices’ Kamieniec analog phaser module. Like its predecessor, Kamieniec II is analog and inspired by a range of classic phaser effects units from the 1970s.
It comes with the beloved features, including 4- and 6-stage outputs, a built-in triangle LFO with a separate output, manual resonance control, and characterful feedback routing modes.
Kamieniec II not only includes all the old, proven features, but also much more, making it more versatile than version 1. For this, the team has redesigned the circuitry and added features.
It now includes a voltage control over the resonance, a third characterful feedback mode, and an LFO reset input. The chaining function is also available on Kamieniec II, allowing you to add more stages.
Better yet, the new version is also compatible with the original; you can combine both generations, so no need to buy two new units if you have a Kamieniec I.
The Allpass Expansion
In addition to the Kamieniec II, Xaoc Devices has also introduced the Allpass Expansion for those who want all stages but don’t have room for more modules.
It’s an option circuit board that can be installed at the back of Kamieniec II. This 89€ expansion adds 16 juicy, sweepable stages, bringing the total to 22 and making it a super versatile long-type analog phaser.
First Impression
A nice upgrade for the popular analog phaser module. And the fact that it only has 10 HP makes it very compact.
