Terrarum Rivet 02 – Room is a new free multimode room reverb plugin for iOS and macOS with drive and pre- & post-filtering.
The market for AUv3 plugins for iOS is constantly growing. Although the majority are commercial apps, the market for free apps is also steadily increasing.
Joe Topjian, aka Terrarum, has released Rivet 02, a new free reverb plugin for iOS and macOS.
Terrarum Rivet 02 – Room
Rivet 02 – Room is a new free room-style reverb plugin for iOS and macOS. The developer says it’s built for techno and industrial music productions.
According to Terrarum, Rivet 02 – Room uses DSP algorithms from Airwindows, released under the MIT License.
More precisely, it’s based on the Airwindows’ CrunchCoat reverb engine that uses a 16-delay Householder matrix network.
You can select from 17 different room modes, ranging from clubs to halls. You can tweak them with time and smear parameters.
Unlike the original code, Terraum added various new features. At the beginning of the signal path, you get pre-filtering in the form of an EQ section.
Then, right after the core, you have another filtering stage plus a saturation unit (drive) to add crunch to your sounds. Also new is the built-in gate option.
Additionally, the developer added an underlay layer with tempo-synced ducking, which you can use to achieve kick-pumping effects. Further, you have a post EQ and an output section.
Terrarum ships Rivet 02 – Room with various built-in presets with which you can start working immediately. There’s no sound demo available at the moment.
First Impression
Since Airwindows offers great algorithms, I expect this reverb to sound very solid.
It’s welcome that the developer has expanded it, making it more versatile than the original code.
Terrarum Rivet 02 – Room is available now as a free download.
It runs as a standalone app and as an AUv3 plugin on iOS, iPadOS, and macOS (native Apple Silicon). A donation option is available in the app.
