Update

Article from September 26, 2025

The EP-133 K.O. II is one of Teenage Engineering’s most successful products. With the 2.0 update, the portable sampling groovebox has been significantly expanded.

Keyword portable. The EP series is often used in small, mobile setups, whether in the studio or on the go. CME, the developers of the WIDI system, now also integrates the K.O.II into their wireless MIDI system with a dedicated adapter.

If you want to use MIDI data or sync with your instruments/effects, you’ll need MIDI cables. With the introduction of the TRS Mini standard, the search for compatible cables becomes even more time-consuming as you need the right adapter, etc.

The new CME WIDI K.O II adapter aims to remedy or simplify this. It’s a new Bluetooth MIDI adapter custom-designed for Teenage Engineering’s EP-133 (K.O.II) and EP-1320 (medieval).

It’s based on CME’s WIDI technology, which in turn is based on Bluetooth 5 and exclusive Smart Connectivity Algorithms (SCA), making wireless MIDI possible with ultra-low latency of 3ms.

The new adapter acts as a virtual MIDI cable, letting artists connect instruments, controllers, DAWs, and devices completely wirelessly — with the reliability of a cable. It has a range of approximately 20m / 65ft (without obstructions).

Once connected to your EP-133 (K.O.II) and EP-1320 (Medieval) via the sync socket and TRS MIDI port, it can be used in various ways.

You can pair it with any other Bluetooth MIDI controller, mobile devices, or computers. It’s also pairable with TE’s Field lineup, including the OP-1 Field and OP-Z, with ease. Or use it to sync it with a DAW, or to run a WIDI-powered multi-device group setup.

Great, it works standalone and doesn’t require extra power via batteries or a computer. However, for Bluetooth MIDI groups with up to five devices that support splits, merges, and sync, the free WIDI app for iOS/Android is required to manage everything.

First Impression

This could be the right product for anyone who wants to be mobile in their studio without being tied to MIDI cables.

CME WIDI K.O.II is available for pre-order for $39,99 instead of $59,99. Shipping will start on November 1, 2025.

  1. Actually sweet. I use it for both sketching ideas and sequencing/drum machine duties, but usually couldn’t do it both from my couch because midi cables are a pain in the ass, but now I can keep sequencing from far. Dope dope.
