ALM MFX brings the colorful engines, 11 in total, of the MFX Eurorack module to a new AUv3 multi-FX plugin for iPadOS.
The British company ALM Busy Circuits is best known for its exciting Eurorack modules, which are always finished in white. They have a broad modular portfolio, featuring versatile oscillators, filters, modulation, and more.
Plugins and iOS/iPadOS apps have been part of their portfolio for some time now. The Motto Akemie, an FM drum synth, was the first adventure in the world of iPad music production. Now with the MFX motto, ALM released its second app, and it’s their first multi-FX processor for iPadOS.
ALM MFX motto
MFX motto is a new AUv3 multi-FX processor plugin for iPadOS. Important note: it does not function as a standalone app. Why ALM has not made the MFX Motto app ready for iPhones is not known. I hope they will add this in a future update.
It features 11 effect algorithms inspired by classic favorite hardware effects. It incorporates DSP technologies from the dawn of digital effects in the 70s to the present day. The following algorithms are available:
- QuaidaVerb reverb
- Almicon reverb
- Digi-PCM Echo delay
- Tape-Tech Echo delay
- TY-50 Dynamics compressor and expander
- Multi-Phaser
- Ensembles ensemble chorus
- Modulating panner autopan
- Pocket PL8 reverb
- Slinky echoverb
- 2051 Bit Corrupter glitch and looper
Each effect processor is extensively equipped with controls, making it very flexible. The Tape-Tech Echo, for example, offers controls for dry, wet, feedback, time, sync, age, wow, and shift, as well as optional loop and ping-pong functionality.
Unlike the MFX pedals or modules, the ALM MFX Motto app is a true multi-FX processor that allows you to create custom effect chains of up to 11 effects in any order. Thanks to the AUv3 plugin support, you can use the app in multiple instances
First Impression
It’s very welcome to see that ALM continues to develop iOS/iPadOS apps. This is a logical next step for the popular algorithms
ALM MFX motto is available now for $9,99 and runs exclusively on iPadOS as an AUv3 plugin.
