UVI Bloom is a new, lush, expressive algorithm reverb for macOS and Windows with built-in immersive and evolving capabilities.
Reverbs are among the most popular effects in music production. Every DAW now comes with a high-quality one. If you want more, you can rely on plugins, of which there are plenty. To continue attracting attention, developers must come up with new ideas or raise the quality bar for their premium reverbs.
A new one in this area comes from France. UVI has today expanded its effect plugin range with Bloom, a new creative reverb.
UVI Bloom
Bloom is a new algorithmic reverb plugin for macOS and Windows. Important note: it’s not the successor of its Sparkverb but a completely new development that expands its portfolio.
UVI describes Bloom as a lush and expressive reverb that moves with your sound, delivering immersive, blooming tails, rich with emotional depth. The reverb engine is inspired by diffusion-based architectures that were popular in the 1980s and 1990s.
On the operation side, it offers various classic controls to adjust its sound character, including reverb size, shape, and pre-delay. By tweaking these parameters, you can achieve subtle results but also a very long ambiance.
Then, it features a built-in modulation engine that is controllable by depth and rate parameters. It sounds like a chorusing effect, allowing you to remove the static nature from the reverb tails and infuse them with life and more unpredictability.
Let’s move on to the bottom/middle section of the UVI Bloom, where you have a rise parameter that applies an attack envelope to the reverb. It’s a unique parameter that shapes how quickly the reverb blooms into its complete form. Next to this is a reverb decay parameter that ranges from 0 to 50 seconds, depending on the size setting.
It is joined by low and high decay times with independent frequency controls. It’s a useful feature to shape the reverb over time. Additionally, it features a master low-pass filter, known as rolloff.
Alongside a traditional dry/wet mix control with a trimmer, you have stereo width and diffusion controls. The latter is the amount of blur applied to the reverb.
Different Modes
Things get more exciting with three different modes: single, parallel, and serial. In single mode, UVI Bloom operates a single reverb engine, delivering results that match your expectations of a classic reverb.
Then, in parallel mode, it runs a second slightly detuned reverb engine in parallel with the original sound. It gives you more lush and open results. If you prefer a more cinematic and super lush result, consider checking out the serial mode, where both engines run in series.
Furthermore, the taps section features five distinct modes: flat, natural, tail, rising, and depth, providing different reverb characteristics. There is also a freeze function, great for creating atmospheres.
In addition to the GUI, it features a browser with 200 presets, a handy A/B function for auditioning presets, a parameter randomizer for instant new results, and a unique mutate functionality. The latter takes a preset, keeps its characteristics, but alters them slightly to get different results. A nice feature that allows you to explore the engine differently.
“Bloom is about rediscovering a classic sound through a modern lens,” says lead developer Rémy Muller, “its unique topology lets us dial in soft, cascading reverbs with a deep and controllable sense of motion, all without relying on modulation or envelopes. We think users will find it both lush and inspiring.”
First Impression
At first glance, it appears to be a high-quality reverb with an interesting feature set. I don’t see anything groundbreakingly new about it, but it does have some smaller, neat features that could be worth checking out. It sounds great in the demos.
UVI Bloom is available now at a special price of $39 / 39€ (regularly $79 / 79€), through June 30th, 2025. Owners of SonicBundle will receive a voucher for an additional $10 / 10€ off.
It runs as a VST, VST3, AU, and AAX plugin on macOS (native Apple Silicon + Intel) and Windows. It requires an iLok software account and includes three activations. A 15-day trial is available on the website, with no restrictions.
